hello yall, i am kinda new but my boyfriend is always on this site. i have a question, how much sleep do i need. i have a pretty hectic schedule. i get up and doo cardio at the gym at 5:30 then go to work until 5:00. after i get off i meet my boyfriend at the gym and train with him. he says i need miore sleep. oh ya i go to bed with him around 10:30 every night maybe a little later. he thinks that i need to stop doing this much we decided to let yall decide. any info will help thanks.

I agree with KBgrl, but I would lean more towards 8 hours if possible. Several days of less than 8 hours + heavy training catches up with me. Also if you are training regularly and hard, you will just want to give your body enough time to recover.

Another way to describe "over training" is "under recovery". If you don't give your body enough time to recover, eventually it will *make* you take the time -- in the form of a cold, exhaustion, lower quality workouts, etc.

If you have to use an alarm clock to wake yourself up, then you're probably not getting enough sleep. The recommended hours of sleep is 8, but it all depends on the individual.... the length of time it takes one to reach REM sleep. It's important to get the proper rest so that the body may function optimally

i agree with poohbear. if i am struggling to get out of bed and get woekn by my alarm clock, i need more sleep and need to catch up. usually i can just wake up at the same time every day. i also read somewhere that consistency (isnt that the key everywhere!) is key. you should try and wake up at the same time every day, including weekends. i know its tough though.

Welcome:) 8 hours would be awesome and best...but in a realistic world we usually do not get that...just not enough hours in a day...Get as much as you can....Rest is vital to your training.

I know Sassy69 said it, but 8 hours truly is best....gotta let your body grow, and it does so in your downtime. Its sooo hard with jobs, kids, and men..... but ya need your beauty rest :D I am just plain grumpy if I dont at least get 7.....
