Last time I counted, I had about 50 pairs of shoes total (I think I've only bought 2 pairs since then...I've been good the past few months). Only 4 are sneakers--my good Nike Shox that I currently run in, my old pair that I wear around, a pair of New Balance running shoes and a pair of pink and green 'Roos. I love shoes!!!!

2 pairs of sneakers, then shoes for all the different clubbing and dress occasions.... so maybe like 8 pairs at the max .....

You wouldn't think that Freddie would, would you? Yes, but Freddie does. Let me count: 3 Prada sneakers, 2 Ralph Lauren, 2 Tods, 2 Pumas, 1 Adidas, 1 Asics, 1 New Balance, 4 Gucci, making it an astounding 16 pair count for someone who never goes to the gym!

2nd pair are comfy basketball blue and white nike's that i usually wear to school (to match clothes if i wear blue/white)
3rd pair are my going out shoes - black/white Adios that i have received nothing but compliments from - and they were only 40$ on sale! ;) - wear them to school also when wearing black to match

i buy shoes about once every year-year and a half or so...

A pair of lakai's, brandnew.. its my going out/school shoes
A pair of osiris old as shit.. skate abuse on it.. my drumming shoes
A pair of emerica's.. kinda ragged but still good.. i wear it whenever i feel like wearing it.

Aside from a pair or two for the gym, I don't really see why you'd have a lot of sneakers unless you're a hip hop star, a skateboarder, or you're still in high school...

Here's the pairs I've got:
2 of running shoes for road running (alternate them)
2 of trainers (for the gym)
2 of black dress shoes (1 conservative, 1 trendy)
4 (2 brown, 2 black) leather casual shoes (sketchers and docs)
1 teva sandals
1 winter boots
1 junk old sneakers for camping, mowing lawn, etc when I don't wanna ruin other shoes

Then some sports specific pairs of shoes too...
2 of bball shoes (indoor pair and outdoor pair)
1 cleats (I just use the same pair for softball and soccer)
1 racquetball shoes
1 mountain biking shoes
1 rock climbing shoes
(just use the crosstrainers to play tennis)

When I find a pair of shoes I really like I'll buy 3 or 4 pairs of the same ones. sometimes more. That being said I have about 30 pairs of sneakers and 35 pairs of other shoes not including boots and cleats. I play a lot of competitive sports so I need a lot and I go through a lot.

I just bought 4 pairs of the airmax 360 running shoes, 2 red and 2 blue, best running shoe ever made and the way Nike is they might not make them again for 10 years so I stocked up.

4 pairs of Nike white/white air force ones. My all time favorite casual sneaker that was nearly impossible to find until being re-released recently so I stocked up because they may get scarce again.

2 pairs of Reebok the Answer VI yet to be worn. My all time favorite basketball shoe. I'll save them for special occasions like tournaments and league playoffs and 3 on 3 championship games unless I can find more somewhere or I find a better basketball shoe.

Also, found a pair of the best looking basketball shoe ever made last week, The Question. AI's first shoe. These are just for when I'm chilling out on a sunday in sweats with my girl and I still want to show a little style without putting extra wear on my high performance shoes.

Have several more pairs of various basketball shoes I'll wear when I'm playing outdoors or just a pick-up game at the YMCA or student rec center, including 4 different air jordans, 2 pairs of T-Macs, 3 more pairs of various versions of the Answer, and 1 pair of LeBrons. Usually whenever I start a new league I get a new pair and I play 4-5 leagues a year. Once the league's over the shoes still look great and are still wearable for casual games but they've noticeably lost traction, spring, and stability to where I'd be at a disadvantage against somebody with a new shoe.

Then I have 4 pairs of asics gels that I really liked for running and training until the airmax came out. I'll still use those to run on the treadmill with and to train in. I'll savor the airmax's and just wear them when I'm jogging and training outdoors until the Asics are all worn out.

Then I have various pairs of other casual style shoes like a a couple pairs of dunks, a couple pairs of etnies, 3 pairs of the all white K-swiss dellex that was discontinued. That was my white casual sneaker until I found the AF1's again. Best shoe K-Swiss ever made. All their stuff is cheap crap now that I can't even stand to wear longer than ten minutes. I sent 4 pairs of them back for being junk.

wow... prolly around 12.
