How many of you lie about the number of people you've been with?

Why Lie?

I NEVER lie to the fellas...they don't care anyway. When a woman asks...I dance like Muhammed Ali. Actually, I answer with the truth. No one ever feels good about learning their partner's "number," so why even go there. What if I am too high...how will you feel? What if I am markedly lower than you...then how will you feel? Most people drop it at that. If all else fails, I go with "It's no one's business and if that's all we're about then we don't have much." Or something like that anyway.

It depends who asks. I found I tell the truth to my close friends, but I have taken away a few when asked by my b/f.
Reason is, we've been together almost 5 years, and some of them have been during those 5 years!! I know I'm bad, but I was really young when we first got together, and we had a lot of problems...so I strayed....I know he did ,too.
But the last 3 years have been great, especially after my daughter...
So, anyway, there is no way I couldn't lie about how many.

Also, he actually told me how many people he was with in the years BEFORE me ( when we first got togetehr ) and there is no way I would even come close in my lifetime....I guess he was a ladies man...shit, not now.........lol

I agree with obpower and stillgreg, StillGreg hit the nail on the head imo. I always try to avoid the subject. I have been with what i consider to be a high # of people, but i've got buddies that blow my #'s out of the water. I feel eembarassed to tell my partner because i'm sure my #'s will be higher than hers. Even though they were accumilated during my high school days, and i am much older and wiser now. I like the idea of having one partner, and trusting in someone. Allthough it has bit me in the ass here as of late.

Anyway, it's interesting to note that 50% of the women voted they lie...you could probably add another 25% because that many most likely lied in the poll about not lying.

I gotta say I always tell the truth. I've never been ashamed or proud of my numbers. It is what it is.

The worst thing though is that I told my now wife when we first met and every so often it jumps up and bites me in the ass.

Wow, I was just going to post something similar to this. I was wondering if it was a good idea to lie. My roomate has been with 25 girls and told his girlfriend 3 or 4. Seems to me like he's going to get bitten in the ass with that one. Really, I'm not sure if you should even ask the question. It's one thing that you always want to know, but you really don't want to know at the same time. I don't think that there's an answer that is satisfactory, especially if you're "in love" with the person. I know the one time that I was in love I got irrationally jealous knowing that people had touched her before. I mean, it's to be expected, but it still made me sick to my stomach.
