How Many Cals to Grow

Alright I am 156 pounds and my Goal is to get up to 180 or more by april..and i want to lose some BF on the way while putting on mass i understand thats going to take ahwile but i have a clean diet. I eat around 3000 cals a day now..how many should i be eating if i want to reach my goal without putting on fat?

i would reccomend you do it gradually. eating the right ratios at the right times is key. if you notice that your gaining a little bodyfat lower cals, slightly. to gain the maximum ammount of muscle you will be putting on at least a tiny ammount of fat. a meal with all carbs or all protien is the biggest mistake people make.

why is everyone afraid of putting on a lil fat, you can always cut later ... that kind of mentality stagnates growth

'why is everyone afraid of putting on a lil fat'

because you can avoid it if you design the right kind of bulking diet - the one which promotes anabolism and not anabolism+adipocity proliferation

that is what I believe Step Off-- I can only be so cautious-- I eat the right foods and often-- and I observe balance. For bulking, fat doesn't scare me-- what scares me is loss of size (and that is constantly happening). It is hard to keep the balance, so an overabundance (but not by much), is safer than not enough.
I just read an article where Lee Priest said that he feels the smae way, and that an average meal for him bulking would be a whole chicken, half a loaf of bread, and a pint of half and half. that is 1 meal out of his 10 or so a day!

you can't put on a substantial amount of muscle on in a set amount of time, without putting on some fat .. it cannot be avoided. (unless AAS are involved)

I agree...fully. Confused as to how someone at 156 could want to lose fat also.

Note...I have went from 152-300+ and back down to a lean 285 over the last 10 years.
