OK I gotta get in here - this is awesome Ilk! I'm guilty of buying stuff from everywhere from the grocery store to the various makeup counters at the mall because I never really like the colors I have. Lately I'm on a kick w/ the burgundy shades --- my coloring - Shadow has seen me, both w/ the protan & w/o - I'm blonde (w/ chemical help to deal w/ the age-related roots), blue eyes, faie-skinned (think Swede / German). My skin tends to be combination skin but more on the oily side -I personally hate moisturizers because it makes me feel greasy. I have very little in the way of wrinkles thanks to the lifetime of oily skin, however I've got some mega annoying forehead lines - did botox in late 2005 but need to find a new doc here in CA after moving.
My routine is essentially:
- wake up - usually have the eye bags - its been a weird year and wild sleep schedules and it shows.
- wash face w/ whatever Neutrogena stuff
- one of my various skin-rejuvenation / eye bag moisturizer thingies under the eyes
My eyes are smallish, short eyelashes and my eyebrows sort of run out about 2/3 of the way so I put my efforts into making this all more stand-out -
- eyeliner first - could be anything from khaki green / olive, blue, purple shades, burgundy
- eye shadow - again matching the eyeliner but w/ a littler shade for the upper part under the brow, darker over the lid, something in the crease
- eyebrow pencil - try to get a full brow made (yea I gotta draw in alot of it) but not too dark
- mascara - black or brown/black
- a light foundation - again this is anything from Clinique to Maybelline - lately I've been traveling ALOT so I go w/ whatever I can find in a small container, use a sponge to apply primarily under eye, across nose, cheeks, etc to even out- but very light because my skin gets oilly over the course of the day, esp if I'm inside all day.
- Powder blush usually in the rose palette.
- chap stick
If I dont' get out in the sun I can get pretty damn pale which looks really bad. I try to get into a tanning bed at least 1x/week to keep a base. I suspect I'll be relying on that more than the sun this summer because the Bay Area is not what you call "warm".
I tend to put my efforts on my eyes because they disappear. I like a variety of colors - sometimes just to be obnoxious when I'm going out - but for work I'm liking the burgundy shades a bit more - more natural but not washed out.
