How do you feel about interracial relationships?

I have this issue. I'm attracted all girls of all colors(of course I am, I'm a man), but I won't marry a girl who isn't the same as me. Do you guys think this is selfish? Of course I won't date a girl and lie to her about marrying her when I have no intention to. I always make it clear to her my intentions before we go further than just being friends.

Anyone ever been i the same situation or have the same philsophy regarding relationship/marriage?
 
Im in one now !!My family has no problem excepting her race But being that I'm the only "caucasion"In her huge family her mom has still yet to accept me But she's senile so I really dont give a fuck anyways.
 
never had a specific one, did have a relationship with a jewish guy... his mom wasnt very fond of me.... but she also ate pork so whatever....
 
I saw two men kissing. One was Asian and one was black. It didn't sit well with me. I guess I have to say I am against it.

Now if it were an Asian female and a black female I might change my mind...

A lot of people have it in their heads from their adolescence that you are to "date, marry your own color". My parents were not like this but my grandparents didn't even want me having friends outside of my own ethnicity. Of course you're going to be attracted to a lot of different type of people but when it comes to marrying, settling down if your "thing" is your ethnicity then whatever.... if you're only doing it because in your head you think it's wrong any other way then uh, bummer for you. Marry who you want and don't think about it.... if you love someone then who cares what their color is. You're dwelling on something that doesn't need to be addressed. Not everyone you're attracted to is a potential mate, LOL

I guess I'm in one. My husband is anglo. Although I don't really consider being a mestiza latina to be of different race, most people do I suppose.

Neither family really had a problem with it. My older brother maybe a bit at first, and his mom a bit at first. That's about it.
 
I'd throw it in *ebony* - there'd be good contrast of colors going on.

I'd be more worried about her family giving a shit than her family - aka reverse racism.

I am white and my husband is PR (so that is Spanish Indian I suppose??) I like having the two cultures in my family, my mother in law makes YUMMY hispanic food.

What is a mestiza?

Yep, what Bruce said pretty much. Latino is just a very general reference to a place of origin, not a race. Mexicans, Carribeans, Central and South Americans come in all shades. Some a lot lighter in skin tone than others. Since the native Mexicans were generally darker & looked different than the Spaniards, those of us with more native ancestry look ethically different. I look closer to the Spaniard end than native end, but still Mestiza.

Mestizo is what most Americans think of as "looking Mexican". We do have white Mexicans though with light brown hair and green eyes.
 
My husband's grandmother (off the boat PR) had red hair green eyes married in PR to a man who had strong Spaniard/Indian roots, 13 kids.... all brown hair brown eyes... it's funny how genetics works like that. I have red hair green eyes, mostly french Indian with strong scottish roots apparently, husband has brown hair/eyes, tans easily... and my kids one has red hair blue/green eyes and the other has blond hair blue eyes.... don't know where that one came from, LOL

Why would you care in any case? It's not your relationship.
 
There's nothing wrong with interracial relationships of any sort. People who are mutually attracted to each other for whatever reason should feel free to be friends, date and marry as they see fit. Their relationship is strictly theirs. No one else is involved, nor is it anyone else's business or place to judge them. I think people need to focus on building and maintaining their own relationships rather than trying to evaluate those they have no role in.

Two ways to show easy racism in this (and other) countries:

1) young black male trying to find an apartment/roommate. Video/audiotape the excuses.

2) ask people if they'd be perfectly okay with their daughter marrying a black man. Watch the body language as people struggle to answer :)
