How come...another ketogenic question :-)

How can I follow the same diet and training routine two consecutive weeks but one week Ketostix show up with moderate levels on Wednesday and the next week on the same day they're negative?

I bet the Chinese people changed the sauce on the boneless spare ribs. Either that or my girlfriend spiked my diet iced tea with regular iced tea ;)

Most Chinese food is loaded with MSG (which comes from sugar beets and will knock you out of ketosis) and sugar. If the sauce was okay one week, you probably had eaten very few other carbs. Yo really can't trust restaurant or processed food if you're serious about low-carb.

Could be because your body used up all the ketones for something and they're not showing up ont he strip. You probably just got done doing a workout or something when you checked. Either that or you're drinking a shit ton of water, and pissing every 15 minutes, or maybe no eating enough fat.

There may not be a difference if the ketostix are wrong.

More than likely, I thinks it could be the difference of how much glucose your body stored in the liver during your carb-up. What did your carb-up look like? Was it any different than the previous weeks carb-ups? If I remember right, you ate later in the night on previous weeks, than you are know, is this correct?

Your whole body workout before the carb-up will also effect how much glucose will be deposited throughout the body during recomposition. Was this any different than previous weeks?

I did eat later on in previous weeks.

This past carb up my last meal was at 3. The final day all I had was cereal for breakfast, and then Ultra Fuel and Whey made w/water 3 times throughout the day.

My last workout this week was exactly the same as previous weeks. I do 1-excercise/3-sets per body part. I didn't do legs at all because as some of you amy know I've been having tests done it it to see if I need surgery and it didn't feel like it was ready to roll.

My diet has been the same. I have been training just a bit more intensely.

I agree with keiko and ozmokramer...the spare ribs are marinated and then braised in a sauce with sugar...enough of that and it'll knock you out

You know I love ribs too, and while in Ketosis (it's hard enough to keep up with it) I don't like to limit my food. So, this is what I would recommend:
Go out and buy yourself a big thing of pork/or beef ribs. Marinate them in mayo, 2 tbsp of sweet bean sause, some garlic, pepper -red/black, some salt, 1tbsp of sour cream.
Now, fire up that grill, and prepare those bad boys. Trust me, these bad boys will taste like heaven, I love to do it sometime. Just watch the calorie intake and you'll be fine.

P.S. Chinese food general has carbs in EVERYTHING and a good amount too, so I would not recommend eating their ribs
