I have recently cut out more carbs in general---but for the past 9 months, I have lost a ton of weight/fat/inches, and I had lots of brown rice, wheat bread, whole wheat crackers,whole wheat pasta ect. Of course, I had alot of protein as well.
Started with a 38 inch waist (WOW) Now down to almost 27 1/2---and JUST STARTED a low carb diet. I figure after I do a low carb for 3 months or so---basically by christmas, My waist could be at least 25.
The kinds of carbs you are eating are the right ones to take in, no question. As long as you don't go nuts with them and make sure you're calorie and protein intakes are proportional.
