How anabolic would a nap not long after your workout be ya think?

The question just popped in my head and seems like an interesting question. A nap after a workout may not be anything special, but I'd like to see what we cand find out here. I ate my 2nd PW meal (1st real meal following my my PW shake that is) today and then crashed for an hour or so before I had to get up and go to work. Just got me wondering.

cant be a bad thing. an hour nap should release some GH. i know that when i take even a short nap i feel refreshed as hell so there has to be some substance to your inquiry. plus a nap after a workout is rest, which is what your muscles need post-workout along with a good shake.

based on my experience naps are NOT anabolic
and can actually make you lazy and a bit too pampered

I noticed as long as a drink water and have some type of mild glucose feed ( gatorade) I dont crash post workout

a lot fo the lethargy is blood sugar related

interesting concept...depends on the length of the nap...i would think you would feel refreshed but after an hour or 2 i dont want to get up! lol

GH is released around 4 hours into sleep...

i have always taken about an hour nap after eating my post workout meal. but you will end up in the routine of needing it at that time everyday though.

agree on all points!

Not sure a "nap" would be much of an anabolic factor as you propose, but I usually do find a nap refreshing mentally, even if it doesn't do much else. May just be a placebo for me, but one I like, seems to invigorate me more than make me lethargic.

I usually crash too, mostly because I take 75 grams dextrose post workout. The insulin spike, knocks me out. Wether it anabolic or not, in the long scheme of things I dont see how it could really help or hurt you.

these post have me wondering if I'm doing everything wrong. I workout from 6:30-7:45 and rack out at 9, do I need to change this? Is this hurting my cycle and does anyone have a good read on this topic?

I try to keep it around 50 minutes but go balls to the wall. Never more than an hr.

I can't see how getting as much sleep as possible could hurt? Most people don't have the lifestyle to afford this luxury. If I can sleep 8-10 hrs + per night I do. If I'm sleepy after training, I sleep then too. I remember reading about Kevin Levrone saying that you'd laugh at just how much he sleeps.

i think jay cutler sleeps 18 hours a day. he even rides around in a motorized wheelchair for 3 days after leg day to ensure that they heal properly.
