Holy Crap AppleTV is Amazing

It's way cool.

Basically it links to a computer with iTunes in your house and plays movies you download on your TV.

I've got DVR's, multi-disc DVD's, video VJ's... and this think kicks all of their asses combined. It makes me want to rip my entire DVD collection and put it on the same hard disc.

I'm impressed.

Apple needs to make a TV that goes with it. I'd like to see a Mac/TV combination.

samsung 8 series tv is cooler than apple tv. but everything is wireless an hooked up already. my laptop is bluetoothed to my tv through my playstation. dont need itunes. my iphone and imac already talk to each other behind my back as well.

this technology is too confusing for me. so the apple thingy does not have to be hooked up to a computer to download stuff? i have a sony media player and what i have to do is download movies to my computer, transfer it to a hard drive which is hooked up to the media player which is hooked up to my tv with an hdmi cord and then i can watch it.

I'd like to have a Mac accessible through any TV in the house. I'm not sure if the viewing angle would hold up, but it would be wild to have fewer computers and just a few slide-out keyboards strategically located.

A jail broken apple TV running XBMC media center is utterly amazing!!!!!!!!!!!

I've got a Mac mini connected to my primary tv/entertainment center and am using that as a server for my entire media library, movies, music, pics, etc...
Using XBMC is the key, it brings everything together In one place with an amazing UI!

The cool thing is, no need for a wireless keyboard or mouse, I use an app called mobile mouse that turns my iPad 2nd and 3rd gen into a track pad and keyboard. The best part is that I don't have to use the TV to access my desktop to do anything. If the tv is being used I can use the splashtop app pull up my Mac desktop up on my iPad to access and do what ever I need to.

I also use PLEX to stream to multiple devices using wifi or 3G or 4G. My brother in green bay can access my media files through his iPad and Mac as well.

FYI, I do all this without using iTunes at all, I really don't use iTunes for anything.
