Interestingly I find that if you are on a really got hypocaloric diet, something like bodyweightx11-12 every day, than one day with even, 10,000 calories will have your very thirsty body suck up the calories madly and not store a lot of fat. I also use about 100mg of r-ALA for every 20-30g of carbs, so on days like this I can pop even 4000mg of r-ALA spread over the day.
