High fat diet and cholest...

I grow really really well from a high fat high calorie diet. I love hamburger helper. When dieting I eat a box of hamburger helper a day mixed with 3lbs of ground beef. I also eat about 4 cups of white rice and about 6 cans of tuna....and a gallong of miilk. I always grow like a weed...and never get too fat from it....little weight gain but not too much.

I eat a lot of high fat foods all the time and never get overweight. A friend of mine was asking me this weekend about my bulking diet and they said "don't you ever worry about clogged arteries" and stuff like that.

That got me to wondering....

what do you all think?

STUDIES HAVE BEEN DONE THAT SHOW THAT THE ATKINS DIET IS ACTUALLY A GOOD DIET FOR REDUCING CHOLESTEROL-despite the tons of fat he tells you to eat

Not really interested in a "diet" at all...ha ha. I'm still trying to gain weight.

Does anyone else on here eat a high fat diet...and not give a lot of real concern to cholesterol etc....? I think that it's probably time that I did.

I think the object in gaining weight is to get heavier not fatter. Up your Calories and lower that fat intake. Doesn't matter if you reach your goal weight if you are a tub of shit. Yes, you WILL clog your arteries. The Atkins diet IS NOT high fat............It's high protien, low carb. Nothing about the diet he just described is low anything.

First off your not on a Atkins diet, cause your got high carbs as well.

Second, Atkins promotes high fat and high protein.

Third, if you could get calories from forms other than saturated fats, I think in the long run would do you better. You can get the same calories per gram with unsaturated. So if its trying to get the high calories you want I'd suggest doing it with unsaturated fats.

And since you like peanut butter:

"Dr. Richard Mattes, professor of Foods and Nutrition at Purdue University found that when 500 calories of peanuts were added to subjects' regular diets, substituted in the diet for other fat, or eaten freely, the results were the same-- the men and women automatically compensated for most of the additional calories and they spontaneously commented on the high satiety of the peanuts. Those who either added peanuts to their regular diet or substituted peanuts for other fats had the added benefit of significantly lowering their triglyceride levels (TG), a known risk factor for cardiovascular disease (CVD) (4). "

I was not going to respond, because AGENT SHAGWELL explained most of this to the dot. I do want to give you guys a run down on fats:

Two-types of essential fatty acids: Linoleic and alpha-linoleic acids. Linoleic acid is classified as an omega-6 fatty acid and is found mostly in vegetable oils. Alpha-linoleic acid is a precursor for the omega-3 fatty acids, which also exist in fattier fishes, including salmon, herring and halibut.

The fat that has the worst reputation is saturated fat, which is hard at room temperature, whereas the essential fats are usually liquid under the same conditions. Saturated fat, although doomed to be the worst of the worst in everyone's eyes, is needed for the body to maximize testosterone synthesis. While, not essential, it is recommended to maximize testosterone synthesis.

But, wait, wait. If we are looking for the KING of bad-fats then we have a winner: Trans fats. The worst fats you can consume in your daily diet, which are, by the way, used in quantities of 30-40% in most processed food. Hey, even your "Healthy Choice" meals contain about 40% trans fat. Probably one more reason not to listen to corporate hype. Yes, this type of fat will raise cholesterol levels, and decrease overall health, but the simple thing to do is, not to consume trans fats. (example: Partially hydrogenated oil. )

Hmmmmm...since I have recently set a few new goals for myself as far as comp wise...I guess that I'd better start thinking more about my diet huh?

Peanut butter? How'd you know I loved peanut butter? I always take an x-tra large jar of peanut butter to bed with me at night...by the morning...it's 1/2 gone.

Wow...all of these poly-, mono-, un-, super- saturated stuff is really bringing me back to those really really scary days in college....Chem, bio, anatomy, microbio, phys...ughhhhhh...and I have tried so hard to forget all about them.

Thank you again...and any other info would be great. I'm just looking to get into a routine in which I can eat a lot of "better" foods and keep the amount of fat that I have. When I start eating cleaner for a few days or cut back my kcals...I start to lose fat...and I love my fat belly.

Thanks

B FOLD ....your eating the natural peanut butter right?...SMUCKERS is good....no skippy or others that alter it and add trans fats....GOT IT!!!!:D

Natural peanut butter? I have no idea.... I just went to Wall-Mart last night and bought 4 jars of the Wal-Mart brand preanut butter. That stuff is high. Is this bad? Hope to have all 4 jars gone by this Sunday...gonna weigh in the mid 280's by then again too.

290's are getting closer...

A few good points of cholesterol:
From cholesterol, the body makes steroid hormones, corticosteroid hormones (among these aldosterone -regulating water balance), cortisone, bile acids (vital functions of digestion & absorption), and vit D. The more stress the body endures, the more cholesterol the body makes on it's own.
The cholesterol terror invoked by the medical community is a marketing ticket for drug companies and food manufacturers.
Example: peanut butter...NOW CHOLESTEROL FREE! It never did contain any. Only animal foods contain cholesterol.

Quit Worrying About Fat

The more the better. Lard is good. 10W30 Motor Oil is better. Before the advent of protein powders, cold pressed oils and the like, I ate a dozen whole eggs just for breakfast. Double cheese whoppers are great. I eat at least a couple with fries and a chocolate shake every week. I think of it as just lubing my arteries up. Get's the blood flowing better.

Think of it this way. The body is a machine. Your car is a machine. You wouldn't want to cut down on the oil in your car engine would you? Then why your body.

You are all going to die soon enough. If you're not getting fat and ugly don't worry about what you're eating. Even if you do die early just you'll look real good in your casket.

Wal-Mart, ain't natural...sorry:( They add trans fat to it. Smuckers is sold in every grocery store I know.

booger, your gonna look gggrrreat in a casket I'm sure. But if you were an engine would you rather have reused motor oil thats been hydrogenated and will clog up your pistons, or new unsaturated oil that lubricate them?.....did I just type teh word pistons?....damn...

Never Thought of That

The next time I change the engine in my car I think I'll try 5 quarts of Olive Oil. Might just work better than Mobil 1.

Thanks for the tip Agent Shagwell

Man...I'm trying to!!!! I've got a contest in Oct of this year...trying to find that happy medium between being extremely strong and being extremely healthy!!! My father has never eaten a clean meal in his entire life. I am 6'2", larger person, and will be back at about 290 very soon. He is 5'10", larger boned person...and weighs about 500lbs. No joke. He is a diabetic, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, poor circulation, and a ton of other things wrong with him...and thinks that it is genetic and he can't help it. He also has bad knees, back, and hips...at 54 he has just retired on disability...I hate that about him...we do not get along anyway.

All help appreciated.

FYI...I got pretty sick early last week...1 week ago I was down into the 260's...way down into them....tonight and one week later I weighed 280. Been poundin' the food, and not the fattening stuff either. Haven't even touched hamburger or peanut butter yet:)

why is it that so many BB die when they're about 45/50 from heart conditions? Is it due to theyre diet or all the stress from training?

Now I'm confused,.........
It's true that lots of saturated fats are bad for your health, right
On the other hand those saturated fats (mainly animal fats) help the body to produce (cortico)steroid hormones

Is it better to lay emphasis on these staturated fats and don't mind about the health issues, because you'll grow like a weed?
Or doesn't it really matter if you stay away from saturated fats and just eat EFAs?

Does it mean that a keto diet with lots of saturated fats and a carb up on weekends would be a great bulking diet?
