Hey Bigguns15 and Jeremys!

My Results

Just got back from my meet. Here's the lowdown.... Weighed in at 148.4, so only had a little over a quarter pound to spare (I think the scales were a tad heavy). The meet had only one flight of lifters, but the flight for squat was like 18 people deep (you could enter any of the lifts singly). After the rules briefing, we had a whopping 15 minutes until the meet started, and only two squat racks to warm up on. Didn't get my last warmup in, but went ahead with my opener of 355. Sunk it a little deeper than usual, so it was slow coming up, but no problem. Went to 375 and got it as well. I felt my back tighten up, so I went for 400 on my 3rd instead of my planned 405. Well, that might have been the longest squat in history (the bar stopped moving), but I gutted it out and got it. I was pretty happy with that all things considered.

After a 10 minute break, bench started, which hardly gave anyone enough time to warm up. The bench flight had even more lifters, around 22. I opened with 220 and got it, but it was really slow, so only went to 230 for a 2nd. Barely got it off my chest. So, did a repeat at 230 and moved my grip in slightly since I was getting nothing out of my shirt at the bottom. When I started to push, the weight went towards my feet instead of up. Out of my groove completely, so I missed that one as well. I think I may have underestimated how much squat took out of me. My PR on bench was 235, but that was in a bench only meet. 220 is actually a PR in a 3 lift meet.

On to deadlift. Again, barely had time to warm-up. In fact, did my last warm-up after lifting had already begun. Opened with 375 and it was easy. Went to 405 and it was harder than I expected, but I got it anyway. Went to 425 and it got stuck at my knees.

So, I ended up with 1025, which is 5 pounds off my PR total, but only went 6 for 9, so maybe that's not so bad. I won 1st (only one in my weight class), and best female lifter overall.

I'm a little disappointed, but motivated to start training again. If my coach would let me (he won't!), I'd be in there tomorrow.

Thanks to everyone for thinking about me and wishing me well. I'm about to head off to Wal-mart to pick up my pictures now.

Good job, it takes awile to get used to squatting and then benching, some forget that was changed in the 70's when you would bench first.
