Here's what the Neuro-Surgeon told me

iron asylum

For those interested i saw a neuro surgeon yesterday who looked at my MRI and xrays and this is what he told me. My L5/S1 are basically sitting on top of eachother and are totally compressed which he says is causing pressure on the nerve going down my right side. He said the good news is that they can't compress anymore and pinch the nerve any harder. the bad news is that since the disca are rubbing eachother, they are producing calcium deposits to try and protect the discs which keep building and are proceeding to push into the nerve more which will damage it. In other words surgery is unavoidable and will need to be done before the calcium deposits completely kill the nerve which will make me lose all feeling permanently. He says that if I'm carefull with how i work out and stop any exercise when it starts to deaden me and work around my issues i should be able to put off the surgery until after my contest in december. After that I go under the knife and he uses a laser to cut all the calcium away from the nerve and basically form a hole around it so it can relieve pressure. So good news is I can still do the show but will have to totally modify what I'm doing. Bad news Is there is no avoiding the surgery.

Good News/ BAd News situation, I hope your issue doesn't bother you and that after the surgery you're back at it and healed up soon to kill it! Good LUck with everything bro! :)

Dang bro, that sucks to hear you still have to have surgery. But good to hear you can still compete.

Look at it this way, This couldbe the best thing that has happened to you, and always remember there are people out there who hae it alot worst!

The thing I'm thinking now is that will you be able to alter your training and still be able to train in a way that will get you to the stage? Will you be pushing it too hard?

I will only be that lean (under 4%) for about three weeks and during that time I'm training to just maintain......Not pushing anything hard at all. The only thing I can say is that I plan on doing the competition and will go by feel as I come down. If I feel that I'm screwing myself up I will stop in my tracks and not compete. It's not worth the risk but I will cross that bridge when I come to it.

We're with ya brotha.....I hope you're able to go hard enough right up to the show, win it, and go out on top...
