Why is it that I can't say no to junk food....

I had surgery on both feet about 2 months ago, gained 20 pounds of FAT, and now just don't have the discipline to say no to crappy food and get back into my exercise routine.

I'm a mental skitz-oid. I know that I feel much better at 240lbs....hell, at 270 my eyeballs want to pop out when I bend over to tie my shoes...it's even hard to twist in the shower to wash my butt-crack. This depresses me, but put a plate of wings and rings in front of me and I'm a "live for today type of guy."

Please....can someone saysomething positive that will help me get back on track?

I've always been 'stocky'....I'm 6'2" and 38 y/o......I don't want to die from a H/A at 50....

I've fluctutated MANY times from 280 down to 220 for the past 15 years (life of my marriage)....why is it that I can't stay in the 220-240 range. Everytime a crisis or injury arises...so does my weight.

How to I start.....AGAIN.

2 weeks...Eat healthy for 2 weeks - sounds easy, it is pretty easy if you have any amount of motivation or discipline. After that, eating healthy and working out correctly gets a lot easier. So - just set you goal as eating right and working out for 2 weeks...

Man, I feel your pain. Sometimes it isn't easy to resist all those good foods. ESPECIALLY around christmastime, when I go back home and mom bakes all those damned cookies and crap.

Here's what I do to help resolve the situation: Make sure you are eating enough food. Not too much caloriewise, but volumewise. I find that if I am full, I don't have cravings for junk food. This means eating healthier foods to get the volume of food you need. Another big key to this is to get some extra fiber in your diet as well as a lot of water (try shooting for a gallon a day).

I know its hard, but keep at it. I've heard that psychologists say that it is a bad idea to treat yourself with food, but its ok to have some fun. Sometimes, it is important to live in the now... Just don't always live in the now ;)

I hope this helps
