help with bulking diet

New member
hey guys I just received my gear and I'm about to begin my summer bulking cycle. I'm 19, 5'8, 152 lbs and about 7% body fat. I'm doing an 8 week cycle of sust and var. My final question is diet. I know diet is crucial to gains and I admit I somewhat overlooked it. I plan on about 5 meals a day. My problem is I don't eat much as it is, and the var is suppose to slighly supress hunger. I plan on eating loads of protein, good fats, and good carbs. Until recently ( damn computer crash ) I had a very good web site that basically laid out a calculation of how many calories a person consumes in one day simply to live, then the calories increased in incriments as to what you were looking for in a diet. I was wondering relatively how many calories would be healthy for me to achieve solid keep-able gains with my sust and var without getting the dredded gut. I will be doing sprints 3 days a week, and some plyos for my 2 of the 3 days also. Too much running I know, but it's for football....can't miss. With all this running do you think there's any problem with me eating a solid 4000 cal/day or so? Take in grandit that I am only 151 and 5'7. Does anyone have any suggestions on relatively how many cals I should consume daily?

Do yourself a favor and get accustomed to eating a lot before starting your cycle. I don't think 5 meals/day would be enough, you gotta be able to eat often (every 2-2.5hours) especially when on cycle. Not everyone can do this. You need to be able to cook or prepare, this takes a lot of time. And make sure you're eating foods you like. This is key, if you eat foods you don't like, you're more likely to lose your appetite and fuck up.

If I were you, I would weigh myself first thing tomorrow morn, and start eating (at your height/weight 2800 cals-3000 should be sufficient at first). Once your weight starts plateauing (couple weeks maybe), then start your cycle and bump up your cals a couple hundred or so.

At your weight for bulking up you need: To take in between 2900-3400 calories a day, and of that 160-200 grams of protein a day. The rest should be carbs, and some fats.
On the days you increase your cardiovascular training I would add another 200-300 calories 40% Protein, 40%Carb, 20% fat, or around that.

Your first cycle is always your best one as far as gains. Make surre you have everything in line before starting aspecially diet. Have every little detail hammered out before you start. Here are a couple of rules to go by (keep in mind thewe are ruff estaments but they should point you in the right direction)
calories 16-18 xs weight
protien 1.5-2 xs weight
carbs 2-2.5 xs weight
fats .5 xs weight

do the same amounts apply as weight goes up( i.e. calories 16-18 x's the weight you presently are that day/week.)?

does anybody have a good site for showing the amount of calories , g of carbs, and g of proteins in different types of food?

BIGDHO,
I thought it should be more like 20 times bw. I just started bulking from 7% 180 pds and am consuming 3800 calories (approx 350 grams protein, 325 grams carbs, and 125 grams of fat). I'm concerned this might be to much and that I might be ingesting to many grams of fat. Fat is coming from Olive Oil, Flax, and ANPB.
