What can I do to remedy this? I have no clue how to target this area. I thought lat pulldowns and such would hit them... :worried:

any help would be appreciated :)

well, is it the ribs you are worried about? there are muscles that cover the ribs around the pecs- i forget the names. they are called boxers muscles because boxers have very developed sets. pushups will really hit them.

They're the muscles whose primary function is to inflate the ribcage. Called serratus from the similarity in appearance to a saw.

If you want to hide your ribs then you're just going to have to get a lot larger. You can build the muscles with pressing movements and movements which pull your arms down in front of the body.

sweet! thanks, thats what i was wanting to know. K

ok, so after googling for awhile.. i found you can work these out by a kind of wallpushup, but you only use your shoulders -- arms straight to the wall, shoulder blades pinched, and push your shoulders forward and then back.

fun.. there has to be some way to use weighted resistance.. i imagine w/ a cable machine, and a bench. i'll figure something out.

thanks

Cable crossovers, pull-overs or pulldowns where you keep your arms bent but fairly rigid and just rotate around the shoulders.

The pullovers with just your upper back resting on a bench using a DB work pretty well. Keep your glutes as low as you can when doing these but don't sit on the floor. Take the DB right back over your head and pull it back over to your chest. Keep it light until you get the groove. You can also use a barbell but then you're better off supporting your whole body on the bench. It's a lot harder with a bar and more error and injury-prone. Keep your arms bent.

those things where u go on ur knees and pull down the rope in the tricep pulldowns and bend like youre praying works too- i forgot what they were called.

do lying overhead pulls.

put a bench horizontal and lay back putting just your shoulder blades on the bench with your feet flat on the floor. have a single dumbell in both your hands and put it straight up over your head. then with your arms straight, bring it straight back behind your head, then straight back up so its over your face. when i first started doing these it felt like someone punched me in the ribs 100 times. after a while, i noticed a HUGE difference, makes yer chest look a lot more shapely, and covers your ribs quite nicely.
