Help dieting

Hello I recently lost 90 lbs and I am now trying to lose 10-15 more and these last are the hardest..
Along with this I am trying to tone some of my muscle (which I never did before)...
Now being so overweight and just typical exercise (getting off my ass) and diet (stop eating anything...JUNK) was all it took .......but now not being so over weight I dont really know what everyone means by eat 5 times a day? Like I said when I was 90 lbs heavier it was pretty much eat less......Can someone help?

eating more frequently isnt the same thing as eating "{more"

The idea is that your body metabolizes carbs, fats and proteins pretty much within 2-3 hours. Carbs metabolize the fastest .. that's why you can get a sugar rush real fast & then crash. Fats and proteins take a little longer. So if your body can metabolize different foods within 3 hrs, then schedule your meals to provide refueling as optimally as possible, but also only consuming enough fuel to be metabolized durign that period of time -- thus the meals every 3 hrs, equals 5-6 meals / day.

Can you post up your stats, current diet & training & we can start tweaking it to get you through those last 10-15 lbs. Congrats on your progress so far!

Well as for Exercise I do 30 mins Cardio at the gym and then 30 mins weight training....I can't really tell you what I do with the weights because like I said I am new to this weight training and I just did what the man at the gym showed me.....but on Monday I do arms and on Wednesday I do legs then Friday I do just Cardio and a few different machine's they showed me at the gym for like your abs, sides and back......Sorry I cant be to helpful with that part but I never knew muscle actually helps burn fat also or I would have started awhile ago....and with losing 90lbs you kinda have no muscle tone which I never knew would happen either......
so now I wake at 8am with my son I will eat a bowl of cereal with skim milk(oh and I have 2 cups of coffee is that bad?)......then I wont eat again till lunch usually at like 11or 12 and that will usually be a turkey sandwich maybe a salad or some chicken with rice and sometimes when I am in a rush one of those lean Mirco meals......then I will eat dinner at 5 and recently I have been weighing that to see how much I do eat and that will be your basic meat veggie potato......and I have a snack at nightaround 8-9....ummm last night I had yogart.......Now that is pretty much how I ate for the past few years....well without the breakfast I actually just started eating that....so I think I need a little help??? Also 3 times a week at the gym is ok right? I think 3 will get you there 5 will get you there faster....hey anything you think any tips will be very helpful and appreciated

I use to think like you... and the change of my diet (to 5-6 meals) had an AWESOME impact on my progress. It took me years and LOTS of cardio to finally realize my diet was the missing link.

Do not think in terms of eating 5 large meals a day... you will be eating more frequently, reduced portions, healthier food choices/combinations...

Congrats on your accomplishments thus far & Good luck to you :rose:

^^ Yep, it took me a while to also realize that a BIG key is diet....

Try using a website like www.fitday.com (it's FREE!) to track what/how much you eat..... when I first started using it, I wasn't aware of how much I was truly overeating, so no wonder I kept gaining weight....

^^^ Great Point as well ;)

This was a huge help when I started

Its so crazy how the hardest part of dieting to me is this eating 5 times thing....
I mean people say they cant lose weight because of exercise they say its to hard and they eat horrible.....and I dont mind the gym and I like eating better
Its not knowing how much and what to eat throughout the day if I have to eat 5 times.....but I guess everyone went threw this and I just have to learn....I will check out that website ...thanks

You have already lost 90 lbs, which is incredible.
For me, taking the plunge led to a complete lifestyle change.

I've only been adhering to the '5-6 meals a day' since Jan 26th (my diet start date) and I'm still adjusting, it gets easier.
