I've got a Polar hr monitor & for some reason this week I can't get it to give me a hr reading. It keeps saying 0 even tho my strap is on right & it's wet. I've had for maybe 2 years & when I press the light button the light doesn't come on. Time for a new battery maybe? Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

Sounds like the battery, mine's sat in a draw for a couple years now lol.

I love mine! It's less than a year old and I've never had any problems...sounds like it's the battery theke DBCooper suggested.

Is this a device the doc recommeded after a suspect ECG or is it for athletic purposes?

I have MVP and was diagnosed 2 years ago solely on the persistance and amount of my symptoms but the doc has recently suggested a heart monitor to define the frequency of the attacks. I was wondering if you guys were talking about the same device he has suggested to me.

I don't think so. The "Polar" brand is associated with the athletic type. Many cardio machines say, "Polar ready" right on them, indicating that you can strap on the monitor and get your heart rate transmitted to the machine...no more holding on to the handles that usually don't work anyway!

Thanks Ms. Nonerz. Makes up for fish slapping me. :D

It's funny it worked just fine today. Did 35 min of cardio....need to get back to doing that. I think I'm one of those people who need to do cardio.

Anyway, i washed the strap last nite & today it was fine!! If it keeps doing it, I'll take it to the store to replace the battery.
