i just got back into training early this year but a couple months ago i started westside and recently started strongman and havent payed much attention to size just focusing on strength and really dont do hardly any direct bicep work and today i measured and my arms have grown about 1 1/4" in the past 2-21/2 mos. this has been the best training routine ever and since i started doing the strong man events I love it. sorry, just had to vent.

But you are doing lots of tricep work, and they are 2/3 of the overall size of your arm.:)

yea you gotta point, plus all the back work i do and with the events also.

and bw went from 167 to bout 172 but i can tell a big difference in muscle to fat ratio.

yes i have almost 19 inch arms......... and sometimes i feel like my bicep is all of about 3 inches with 16 inches of tricep......... j/k

seriously though...... my triceps are genetically gifted. i have a peak on my tricep when i do a double bicep shot........ but hardley any peak on my biceps.

Join the club.:( But to add to that, my body likes to hold fat. Hasn't slowed me down any, though.

LMFAO!!

I keep trying to tell people! I never train my quads, bis, or chest in an isolated fashion (they get hit indirectly in compounds), yet they grow ALL THE TIME.

Glad to see someone else witnessing the phenomenon.

...and it's not all tri/ham/back, because the actual distance from the line to the fullest part of the muscle is greater.

thank god for westside;)

Amen......... i'll second that.

:)

I do about 3-5 sets a week for biceps using the mini band yet my biceps still grow some and look decent...

The events really do hit your biceps a lot...

It's funny you should bring that up...everybody's always up in arms (no pun intended) about the need for isolation. "Give arms their own day!" They did a study on major league baseball players. They put them on identical weight training programs, except one had arm isolation and the other didn't. The groups had equal arm growth. So I think isolation is a bit less necessary than everyone makes it out to be.

I give my forearms a lot more attention than my biceps...I give my tri's the most attention...I just hate working biceps

i dont mind it, actually like it, but just since started doin westside, havent done it, but arms are still growing. i'm not bitchin tho

I stopped dedicating a day to arms because they were growing too fast. I was getting bad stretch marks all over because my arms are genetically my most responsive body part.

Well even after I stopped doing direct bi's and tri's my arms kept growing and the stretch marks were getting worse. My arms get plenty of work from back and chest exercises. Now all I can seem to remember getting out of my arm day was bad tendonitis pain.

yea, i dont think i will ever have a day dedicated to only arms again either. i like how it's goin now, just be happy if i can start putting on some weight.

havent done that in a long time and dont ever plan on it again b/c of upcoming kidney transplant

This is some funny shit. I was just going to give the new quick reply feature a test to se if it worked, so I just wrote test in the message field...

sorry, guess i took that a lil too literally:FRlol:

Damn all my other body parts grow from compounds except my arms, they aren't doing anything with isolation either, it saddens me to read so many having an easier time of it :mexican:
