Hammy. Eye question for you

Bought some contacts for a license renewal, but my eyes turned out to be much better than I had thought. Left eye was 20/70 and my right one was 20/30.

The question is would you wear corrective wear in that situation. My concern is that it appears people who do seem to have worsening vision as a result of the contacts/glasses. Mine has stayed pretty even (hardly ever wearing anything) for the last 18 years.

I think my eye sight is about 20/400 :worried:

Whats messed up is that for years (after an eye exam about 6 years ago) I thought my eyes were that bad (at lkeast my left one. I asked the ass optometirst what it was, and he gave it to me in some code that made it seem as if it was that bad.

Go back a few weeks ago and find out my eyes are the same as when I was a freshman in college. My ass isnt, but my eyes are just as good :worried:

are you asking for license purposes? im fairly certain laws differ from state to state on what your uncorrected vision has to be before they make you wear something for correction. If you are only asking for vision purposes i would say wear them if you are unhappy with your vision, 20/30 isnt bad, personally if it were me id wear contacts, i like to see as well as possible, im 20/15 with correction, count fingers with out it, my contacts are -6.50, i cant see shit without them

My left eye is just over the legal limit, but apparently you only need one eye to legally drive, so they cant fail me on that account even if I dont wear corrective wear.

My question is more along the lines of I definitely see better with lenses (more focused, read signs at a greater distance, so there is less chance of me accidentally driving by a Mc Donalds) but Im worried that if I start using them regularly my vision will begin to spiral downward. Since it isnt that bad right now, would I be better off leaving well enough alone.

wearing them will not make your vision worse, almost all myopic people become more farsighted as they age anyways, something to look forward to

Hey, Jerseyart. You might have a shot with this one.

LMFAO

Thats the first thing that occured to me as well ;)

Are we talking w/ soft lenses or rigid / gas permeable lenses? My vision has stabilized and even gotten a little better over several years of wearing gas perms. I"m also only about a 2.0 correction, myopic.

I've never tried the rigid lenses, but I've heard they are painful and uncomortable.

Mine are also terrible, 7.0 and 6.5.

Am I legally blind without my contacts?
hell yes you are, 20/200 or worse is considered legally blind, with your Rx you are count fingers for sure

only in the beginning when your eyes get used to them, they are actually better for your eyes since they let them "breathe", ive never used them though

I've been wearing them since 197... um nevermind. A long time anyway. The materials have gotten so much better since then too. The "breathing" is great because they don't dry out and feel like a piece of tape stuck to your eyeball like soft lenses.

yeah if it wasnt for the breaking in period of them to your eye, i would proably switch over to them

Holy moly, you fools have -6 & 7? Mine are about -3.75 and I thought that was pretty damn bad. I can hardly see a thing without them.

once you get to where you are at there really isnt much of a noticable difference with yours off compared to ours, none of us can see shit without them
