Had a nice workout today best in awhile

I had a really good workout this morning, one of the best I feel I have had in a few weeks.

The last month or so I have been concentrating on adding weight to the bar almost every session, so I would add 5lbs to each exercise ever day. But the last week or so I feel I have added so much that I am cheating a little on my lifts now, and not being able to complete full sets. Just been putting on too much too quick for me to lift all the way.

So...today I decided to drop the weight on every lift by 10lbs less than my most recent session, and I worked extra hard to perfect the form and slow it down a little, and man it was actually just as tough as doing the heavier weight but very controlled. Now this evening I feel the muscle burn coming already. I will continue with this weight for another week or so, and then slowly up it again ?

i had a similar experience, except i was trying to beat my reps for the drop, instead of just focusing on my form and toasting the muscle.

remember, were training the muscles not the ego!

Thanks, but it was not my ego I was trying to train :)

I was under the impression the only way to shock the muscle to make it grow was to keep adding weight to the bar on a regular basis,if you not adding weight you not growing is what I thought ?

thats more the progression over time, powerlifting mentality.

with omega, the goal is the break down of muscle and rebuilding of it... and the best way to utilize the muscle and break it down is to USE it completely to its fullest ROM and contraction.

think of it this way, when you FAIL you FAIL.

so if you are slow and strict and controleld, and fail with 50 pounds, you are reaching failure,

if you expload and sacrifice some form and use momentum and dont contract all the way, and fail with the 100's, you are still failing.

BUT, the slow controlled and strict form works all the muscle in totality, and promotes healthy development and flexability and blood flow into the muscles for optimum recovery.

fattying around heavy weight with half assed form, still leads to some development, but taxes the CNS more, risks injury more, fucks with the connective tissue more, and just doesnt work the muscle you are targetting as well.

so while you still want to slowly increase weight as your muscles adapt to the load, you will do so at a much slower rate than power lifting. think of the weight ## as drug dosage. you can use the same amount of drug dosage, and get the same result over and over for a while, or you can increase the dosage every day. if you are still getting good results from the lesser drug dosage, why risk more with the higher drug dose??

BUT, as your body builds a tolerance to the drug dose (or weight number), it becomes less effective and thats when you slowly ramp up a little bit.

hope that helped!

Ive been sick since thursday nite after i did legs. today i feel 85 percent, going to do some cardio today.

Thanks for the advice SubZ...

So basically to get bigger you can either do it the right way the Omega way of lets say benching 200lbs very controlled 2 seconds up and 2 seconds down, with nice form. Or you can also get big by benching much more like 300lbs but that would be poor form and power lifting up and down fast. I think the slow controlled movement is better ?

I just need to really watch my form and slow it down a bit more, do you also hold the count for 1 second in the middle of the rep ?
