Gyms in Atlanta

Coffee's Gym, Main Event downstairs, Bally's in Marietta, or as mentioned, Golds in Marietta.

Personally I preferred Coffee's to them all.

Avoid Ropemans Fitnes... unless you like standing around being discriminated against because you are white.

AAP- I second your statement about Ropeman's! Never felt so uncomfortable in my life!

Most all the Gold's in the Atlanta area are nice.

What part of town will you be in?

Lee Haney's is on Ponce De Leon in Midtown.....hard core, very hard core. Lot of steroid-using cops go there

Don't like Coffee's in Marietta much.....forgot to tell ya'll about World Gym on Whitlock Avenue....it's a big complex

Main Event to me seems to be for tourists

Speaking of gay....there's a lot of 'gay gyms' in Midtown...if you're into that

Ulter- Pumpin Iron is a supplement store. One location in roswell, one in buckhead. Great people to buy your supplemants from though!!

It ain't fucking hardcore. There ain't but 2 people in there that are big. Zeus and black guy with no calves that paws the ground with his feet and snorts like a bull between sets. And he is only big in the chest and shoulder area. When I go there, I stand out.

Lee ran off all the major big guys (roiders) years ago. He gave the boot to Stan McCrary and his little crowd.. sent the other juicers packing down to Run and Shoot when he voided their contracts and/or refused to let them renew.

The juice cops go over to Golds off that road where Swinging Richards used to be. First exit up 75 after you branch off the connector. (Chattanooga Drive I think)

Some of the guys went to that Buckhead Gym up on Roswell Road.

So Haney's is no good?

Gold's on Howell Mill near Chattahoochee Ave (not Chattanooga Dr) is OK, but a lot of preppie types are there

Hey, if your not gay....how did you know about Swinging Richards?

:-)

Haney's on Ponce de Leon- a little old, outdated and dirty.

Gym of Buckhead in Sandy Springs- a good mix of bodybuilders, women and atmosphere. Flex Wheeler is visiting there this entire week.

Main Event in Marietta- lots of meat heads and chicks with boob jobs...

LA fitness- all over town..most are nice and new

Since I'm kind of old, outdated, and dirty myself, that's probably why I thought of Haney's place.....lol
I haven't been to Atlanta in years, but back in the day there were quite a few large and well-known people at Lee's.
I never have gotten used to "nice and new" weight rooms. Put me in a dank-ass dungeon that smells like chalk and sweat with no machines and I'm happy.

mt- Lawrenceville/snellville

You've got the Gold's in Lilburn which is nice and a couple minutes from L'vill.

Body for Life in L'ville. so-so type place nothing great

Ultimate Fitness in L'ville- nice equipment, large gym, never crowded, i heard the gym wasn't doing well

Fitness International has locations in Snellville and L'ville. They have the pool, basketball, racketball, etc. but nice free weights also. THe owners are very nice people too. nice gyms

There is a LA fitness in snellville also, but ive never been in it

Brian

The Gold's in Atlanta are nice.

What's the name of Haney's gym in Midtown? Our office may be moving there this year and I'm not driving to Roswell and back every day for lunch.

I forgot about Haney's place. I met him out here at the Bowe- Holyfield fight back in 93 he was training Holyfield at the time, super nice guy. Thanks for all the info guys.

Hell, there are so many good places in Atlanta, you will have no probs whatsoever.

As opposed to Cincinnati. I had to go to Cincinnati and couldn't find a place. Somebody downtown sent me to a location downtown and turns out it has been closed for years.

Finally found a Gold's Gym across the river in Kentucky....nice place!

(What's the deal with Cincinnati anyway? Kind of strange)

Thanks FattyBri, I have relatives that I visit in Lawrenceville twice a year but have never checked out the gyms in that area. I like the area and wouldn't mind moving out there. I'm getting tired of
LA even though I'm near the beach (Redondo Beach).
