what do you guys think of...
ironmind hardyhandshake vs. Ironhorse™ Gripanator™ Grip Machine vs. Ironhorse™ Atlas™ Grip Machine

any help would be great. also, if you have any other suggestions i would be glad to hear.

I have a homemade hardyhandshake.

I like the abbility of stacking up the plates rather than having a fixed load (like the captains of crush grippers)

The gripmachine elitefts.com sell feels much better, i think its just the angle of the metal.....which feels more like a heavy deadift (i dont own one...but im gonna make one when i can be bothered)

Iron mind are a very friendly company who put alot of thought into their products and their customers. Very sturdy products....man i should work for them

what type of hand strength are you trying to build? just grip?

mostly just grip/forearm strength. i presume the two go hand in hand. i saw the machine elitefts has that is like 150ish somewhere else for around 100 though that is a bit much.

for forearm work try a wrist roller...it has helped me alot (i had/have boney girl arms)

"hand in hand".....pun intended??

grip....you can do many things. grab a towel or rope throw it over a rafter hold onto either side and hang for as long as you can.

load up dumbells(really heavy) and try to hold on as long as possible

there are many more...

There are plenty of things to do....
depends what you want from your hands.
there are many ways to train different aspects of hand strength

I try and fit some work in with thick handled dumbells (even if its just bicep curls) I bought an extra set of dumbell handles (i train at home) and wrapped a whole lot of gaffa tape (sorry i dont know what you call it in america) to thicken up the handle

I also built a wrist roller. All it is, is 1 foot of curtin rod (i have a thinner PVC pipe as well) Just drill a hole half way up the rod, and thread some thin strong rope through. and

I used to do some "pinch gripping" but i dont have enough time for it (when i quit my job maybe!).

I also use a weighted stick to build up my weak wrists.
All i use is a shitty plastic bar that i found...its like 2 or 3ft. I load up only one side with 5-7lbs. I hold the unweighted end and with my arm to my side and lever the bar in all different directions.....

I HOPE I AM MAKING SENCE!

Here is a page on ironmind

Its written by john brookfield.
he has a good book on handstrength that can be purchased on the site.....but on the link....if you click MORE there are some mad ideas.

Try This Grip Tool

I just found this hand gripper on Brent Mikesell's webpage store that is very similiar to the one over at elitefts.com.. Only this one costs just $59.. I just happened to run across when checking out Brent Mikesell's page... The also have some kind of Band Tensioners which allow you to adjust the tension on your band setups... I might have to try these out..

Here's the addy http://www.brentmikesell.com/site/store.html

hey man thanks for the find. i wonder if without the middle bar to hold the weight if they would just slip right off or if they would acutally stay on.

I see what you mean.. In the picture you really cant see how wide an area there is for the plates to sit on.. I'll look and find their contact info and just ask them about it.. But for that price I'm pretty sure I can make it work though.. I'll let ya know about it after I contact them...

I talked with Brent Mikesell about his gripper. It holds up to 35's and it has no center post. Also, it has gone up to 79. It is still a very good buy if you don't wish to make one yourself.

For gripwork try:
Farmers' walks
Thick barbell work
Barbell holds
Hang off a chinning bar as long as possible, 2-3 times a week
Wrist curls, heavy for 4-5 singles
Wrist roller, use a piece of 2" pipe cut long enough to fit in the power rack
Plate loaded grippers also work well, the COC grippers are good but since you can't adjust the weight they have only limited use in building strength, more just to test strength
