Got offered a trainer job at 24hour-seems like I wouldn't make much $$

Like I said, 24hour pays 15 a session and then 18 a session when you have 1 cert. It goes up from there. Not bad but you need the clients and I dont have the money or time to waste on starting a business. Already tried that here and it didn't work and cost me thousands. That is why I had to sell my car which got me in this position in the first place. I am not dead set on being a trainer, it was just an option. Its not like I am a huge guy or anything, I am 5'11" at just 190 so I dont "look" like a trainer per se.

What do you do for work Supernav? I am in a similiar boat, I just need to make enough to pay bills and have some left over for recording a demo. I have major label interest(based on an old demo) if only I could afford to record. Takes money to make money as they say. I never should have left my well paying job on the east coast to move out here, I would have had my demo done by now if I had stayed. Alas, hindsight. All I can do now is move forward.

Err....

If you ever work out at 24-hour, you'd see that most of the personal trainers aren't much to look at. I only saw two guys who's bodies gave me any reason to think they knew anything about physical training. Heck, one guy had long hair and a gut.

This all insulted me since I pursued the idea of getting trained to do that job, and they brushed me off.

Local guy I knows trains people at $30/hour. He now works out of a small private gym (one-on-one). He just got married, but I don't think it will last. Personal physical training....mostly with wealthy women who want to brag at the tennis club about having to go see thier "personal trainer." Hope he videotapes every session in case rumors get started about him. If I wanted to work as a male escort and needed a cover, that would be the perfect setup to make it all look legit.

How much do they pay? I really only need like 10+/hour.

Fry's Electronics is paying 13 an hour for cashiers now... that's nuts.

Yeah, I'm starting the process to be a trainer at 24 Hour fitness... you are a little further than I am right now... in the process of getting hired anyway...

Of course, I already have a national cert and am working on my second one... as well as a nutrionist cert (if I decide to get that one too).

I know you also get paid hourly there... giving out consultations on top of training. Hey, for me, training isn't really sales... when I believe in something strong enough, it's just like I'm talking to someone. Pretty fucking easy money. Plus, once you get a client base up, you can snag them and go elsewhere... there is a gym near me, it's smaller, and just for trainers to bring their clients to... you pay a flat rate of like $15 per client trained... you keep the rest...

I'd like to build up my client base and then hit it. :)

C-ditty -- plus, if you are full time, you have to consider the comprehensive health coverage.

I thought he was a lawyer.

Yeah, I am.. but the market sucks ass right now... the only thing there seems to be in America right now are fat people who don't know how to lose weight... God Bless McDonalds.

I do like 5-10 hours a week of contract work for attorneys in the area... sure, I bill out at around 50-75 an hour... but I've gotten NO work the last 2 weeks... I need a side gig.
