hey project...what missouri records do you hold? Is it with some lifting affiliation? fill me in man. Good job by the way and avatar is nice too.

Well, for the moment, I hold the APF Men's Open 198. I obviously don't expect my total to hold it for long, but it's fun nonetheless.

I was pretty pleased with my results. I hit my 675 squat opener with depth to spare. Second attempt at 725 I hit with awful form, goodmorninged up the weight. Failed on third at 750. I didn't feel that I was at peak strength and need to work on form a lot.

Bench went well, failed 385 opener due to butt elevation but went up in weight 415, then 460. Both felt solid.

Deadlift sucked. I opened at 675 which came up well. Then I made the jump to 750 and failed at lockout on my second and failed at everything deadlift on my third.

Totaled 1860. Not what I had shot for, but a great first meet learning experience.

I will add one or two sets on to my speed squat day and drop the box on those. I really need to learn when to reverse a squat. I will have to begin to deadlift more in the gym and maybe try to become a sumo lifter. Bench improvement remains and training will remain consistent. Also need to focus on nutrition during and before the meet. I ate basiclly nothing all day and drank little, this will change next meet.

I either would like to get a canvas suit or denim breifs depending on what I read on both. If anyone has any opinions on either of these that would be appreciated.

Thanks to all who helped with the meet. This weekend was fun. "of the taco" will remain the holy grail of all late night powerlifting restaurants.

Peace

Congratulations to you all,

So sorry I was not able to be there. Had the kids this past weekend tho, so could not make the drive.

I will be lifting in the full meet in Sedalia, tho, this August. Hope to see you guys to train a few times between now and then.

I am going to be benching Friday night, and the full meet will be Saturday in Tulsa for the OK state APF meet.

Great job by everybody. Some PR's were set, some people learned some things, I'd say it sounds like a great meet.

Well, thanks to the snow - I just got my satellite internet back up.

I BARELY made weight this meet in the 242s. I won't try that again - 275s from now on. I got on the scale Friday morning as was still at around 245. I had to sit there for several hours and just piss and spit until it came off, and even then I got about a pound-and-a-half gift for my underwear still being on.

My squat went awesome. I didn't get near enough time to warm up, and had to stop at 405, then opened at 550. I hit it deep and fast, no problem. Went to 600 for my second - good again, but much slower. For my third, I had Hannibal call me up just a tad high, and that bastard went up - 2 white lights - and I finished with 625 on the squat, which is great for me.

Bench went as well as can be expected for not having any experience in my shirt. I pulled it high for a token 365 opener - no problem. Went for a 5lb pr at 410 for number 2 - again no problem - three whites - and just missed my third at lockout with 425 - I'll get it in two weeks here in Springfield.

Deadlift sucked ass. I opened with an easy 500 which I pulled fast and strong, set the bar down and...2 RED LIGHTS! I was pissed. They said my knees weren't fully locked out. I should have just gone on up to 540 or so, but I had had such a good day so far that I retook the 500, and after fully locking my knees, hips, and back - I looked left and right at the judes to make sure it was to their approval before setting the weight down. 3 whites this time. For my last I went to 565 to give me a 1600 total, and got the weight all the way up, began locking it out, and out of nowhere my grip on my right hand slipped and bar came crashing down! I couldn't believe it. Most of the people in the room thought I had just dropped the bar purposely thinking I was done with the lift - but to no avail - 3 reds - and I end up with a pitiful 500 on dead.

All in all, I had a good meet - squat is going very well - bench is too if I can keep my arms healed and learn my new shirt I know 500 will fall by the end of summer.

I obviously need to do some fat bar work on my dead for grip.

I was real happy with how the meet went it being my first meet. I also had a good time, and learned a lot.

Squat: 615, 650 (red lighted), 675
Bench: 330, 365, 405
Dead: 525, 555, 600 (Failed)

I was happy with the way my squat went. I only set my circa max faze at 600, so something worked. Before the meet I had in the back of my head that wanted to squat 700, and whether or not I could do it, but oh well next time.
My bench really surprised me. All of my benches felt better then they ever have. I love my Karin's double denim, and I really like the way training bench is going now.
I was not to happy with my deadlift, it was only a 30lb PR since last meet, which is a reflection of not pulling enough in training. I had my sights set on pulling 600, but it didn't happen.
Overall, I learned a lot about how I need to train for the next meet. I had a lot of fun, and it was cool competing with so many people you know.

Squat: 450, 500 (2 Reds for depth), 535 (missed)
Bench: 315, 345, 365
DL: 450, 505, 535 (missed)

Pretty good meet. Squat really sucked, because I got called up an inch high on 500, and it was easy. I probably shouldn't have gone heavier but oh well.

90 lb PR on bench, and I had more in me. Couldn't ask for more on this. Metal Militia training has really been helpful.

I don't want to talk about deadlift. A 5 pound PR is unacceptable when you've gained 40 lbs. I think most of us have learned that our Deadlifts aren't responding to our current method of training which is "no deadlifts" or at least not enough. This will change.
