I'm biased. I live in New York, which at last count has a 60% immigrant population (foreign-born & children of immigrants). It's an incredibly exciting place to live because of this - I know and work with people from all over the world here. There's frictions at times (albanian teenagers fighting with blacks & puerto ricans in the schools, etc.), but for the most part it works, and it teaches you how to respect people who aren't like you. And no, immigrant crackhead welfare mothers aren't stealing your tax dollars, despite what the tabloids are telling you.

One more thought - everybody from the US who has NO ancestors who come from another country, please raise your hand. I thought so. (I don't care if it's 1750, immigrants is immigrants.)

If Australia gives in and lets the boat people come here, its only the tip of the iceberg, because there are many many more boat people waiting to see what happens, and we don't want unskilled illegals any more than the US does. I am in the GMT+1 zone (Belgium) and no i did not get any freedom, especially not from my father. But on sunday i had to go and i was barely 7 when i choose not to. My father left home before i was 8.

As for the email affaire: well that would be my first. Better then a platonic one, which i had too many of.

I'm surprised asians were mentioned yet but as this thread is progressing, im kinda happy about that consideirng im a U.S. - born korean and my entire family are citizens of the U.S. Now that I think of it, of all the immigrants, asians seem to stay out of the public eye and stay out of trouble altogether.
