Glycerin

MS, how long did it take you to become a genius? Did you just spend like 20-30 years training and studying non-stop?

Spatts my feelings exactly. MS has an incredible mind and sometimes I sit back in awe of what I read -- but mostly I have to re-read her posts several times before I understand it completely. Even then, I wonder if we are speaking in different languages.

A truly smart person for sure....glad to have access to that mind and the minds of others 'round here.

MS: Grasshopper -- I think not.

My real point was that I feel almost everyone these days worries overly much about what KIND of calories they are eating when, IMHO, it is one of those trivial details. Get enough protein and EFAs, and keep the rest of calories in check. In this regard, glycerol is just calories (unless you are an endurance athlete looking to superhydrate while providing some slow release carbs to fuel your silly long race). If you eat too many calories, you get fat :(

While I am not claiming to have anywhere NEAR the knowledge MS does.... I totally agree with what she is saying. And I think it all the time!

I think sometimes people get so wrapped up in the details, they lose sight of the big picture. Basically, it all boils down to calories in/calories out. If you eat too many calories (from ANY source) and don't burn enough calories, you will gain weight. Likewise, keep your metabolism going (by lifting and cardio) any watch your overall calories, and you will lose fat.

For most people, the detail work will drive you insane. You can spend HOURS fine tuning your diet by adjusting a carb here and a fat there, but like MS said, keep your protein and fats up and the rest of the cals reasonable and you'll be fine. Eat carbs from good complex sources. Finally, get your butt in the gym and TRAIN HARD. :)

Of course, Wilson6 is a genius, but I've already told him that a few times. ;)

MS, seriously, you have the ability to present an amazing amount of information in a way that can be understood. You don't put people off with big words or a condescending undertone that almost demands that people ask you to bring it down a notch. Every time you start to take it overhead, you give an example or use a different wording that puts it in reach for everyone's understanding. It's one thing to be a smarty pants, it's another thing to be able to present it to the masses in a way that makes everyone feel capable of learning it, or at least comfortable asking for help.

Well said.
