I'll assume he ment circumference, which would give him an average width of about 1.75". That is probably average, but not really sure, will look it up for you.

According to this the average circumference is about 5". No idea what mine is. Will check it out later. I get compliments on the girth, but have never really bothered to measure. Compliments, I just assume, mean there is no need to know as it seems to get the job done.
