Ok, I know this may seem "typical" but it really depends on the person. Heres what I think, a guy that has nice abs, usually is nice everywhere else. I love chest muscles, thats really sexy. Legs are great too, I like them long, lean, and strong. BUT personality can't be topped, ever.

Welp, the last little internet IQ test I took was 160-something... but I can't remember the exact number... I attribute mine to good genes though.... Dad's a doctor, mom's brilliant, grandfather speaks like7 languages ... my younger sister and younger brother are both really smart too..... guess we're just lucky that way....

99.9% of the women out there wouldn't take the time to find out if the guy has a great personality or brains. They are into the visual thing, and if they tell you anything different it's just because they don't want to hurt your feelings. All I have is life experiences to back it up, but since I have been told I have a great personality, and I know I'm a very intelligent guy - if there were any chicks out there who thought those were the criteria by which to pick a man you'd think I'd have them all over me but that's simply not the case nor has it ever been. Women care about a nice body, and a fat wallet, and don't let anyone tell you any different.

Thats right Cyberflash, Most people have to go by visual impressions only at first. And I couldn't lie and say that a big fat sweaty rocket scientist would do anything for me, but an average looking (and clean) intelligent guy wins over a stupid bodybuilder in my book. There still has to be chemistry, and a pretty body will always be nice to look at, but once you get used to looking at it (or whatever), then what- you and your intelligence are still left to be lonely. Find a partner that matches your mind and the looks will follow.

Here's how I see it:

Any fucking moron can go pump iron ... having intelligence puts you a cut above the rest. From what I've noticed on this board, though, I would conjecture that the vast majority of the people here are relatively intelligent, or at least have a witty way with words....

Personally, I'd take a very intelligent chick that wasn't in the best shape over a fine but dumb bitch. I would bring (and, in fact, have brought) my smart catch to the gym with me. Before long, you have the best of both worlds.

Besides, smart women are MUCH better in bed.... I think it has to do with the innate character trait of curiosity in a more intelligent persona....

You make a good point, most men are pre-occupied with looks over other attributes, but I submit that your average male would be totally up front that he was mostly interested in what the chick looks like verses your average chick who would tell you she thinks "intelligence or personality" are the criteria she uses - while she's chasing after some pretty boy buff guy with zero brains and even less personality. Take a look around you at the many women you will see constantly complaining how their man treats them while they chase him all over the county as he continues to treat her like shit.

My sister-in-law is a perfect example. She's with this guy who is a total jerk, he abuses her, he abuses her children, he never holds a job longer than about two weeks and he drinks and uses drugs constantly - but will she leave him in search of a man with integrity, personality, or intelligence. No way. What kills me is that she is a great looking chick, with an excellent job and a great personallity.

P.S. Her ex was cut from the exact same mold as this a**hole.
 
I think Chris O'Donnell is super, sexy. Not only is he extremely beautiful, but he is very intelligent, and not a "show off". Nothing turns me off faster then a guy that knows hes all that and flaunts it. He is humble and kind of shy------I love that.

Well, guess what? I really do like humble guys. I have had my share of cocky guys, and after I dated guys who actually LISTENED to me, and respected me, I was addicted. Guys that treat people in general with respect is very important to me.

When I'm on the first date, I watch really closly how my date treats the server, and it says alot about his personality.

Plus, when i'm talking if he is actually looking at me, and responding like he actually cares--oh yeah, that IS important to me. More important then looks. Not to diss my last boyfriend at ALL, but ok, he was a dork. But I loved his personality, and we had soooo much fun. Plus, he was and still is a virgin. Yep, and I dated him for almost 2 years. Sex/body/looks are not on the top of my list-----I guess I am a rare breed.

Referring to the original topic...I saw a special on Discovery Channel (best channel there is) on beauty. Men have certain cones and rods in our eyes that picks out the image of a desirable woman in the crowd of thousands. This image is basically the same for all men, large breasts, slim waist, full hips.
Women do not have any genetic equipment to automatically pickout an ideal man. from what I understand, women try to place emotions and intelligence to man they find attractive. What is funny is that they try to do this by sight alone, which is a big folly.
My theory is this: Since women ( in general, of course) place so much emphasis on emotions and intelligence, I think THEY should be the ones who approach MEN. Make all our lives simpler. It ain't happening, I know, I know. Maybe in an alternate universe.......

I think for anyone who is in a relationship that long, will find it difficult! our relationship was very fullfilling, and that was why I could stand it. But I tell you what, the next time I get laid, hum.....don't want to think about it!:D

I'd say that all women want something different than the next. Maybe it's infuriating to some guys to hear that since they're all pretty much in consensus as to what is attractive (tight ass, long legs, big breats, thin waist, perfect face, perfect out-of-this-world Barbie body yadayada), but all women aren't in consensus as what is "perfect" on a guy! Some girls like skinny while some like bigger and beefier. To me, some guys look better heavier and some look better thinner. For me, attractive guys are like "total packages" where everything seems to fit together nicely!
Some chicks might want a loud mouth, some may not. Some may want a guy with a fat wallet, I don't personally because I don't have a fat wallet myself, and don't feel that it's right to expect the guy to as well. Some girls want clean cut yuppie A & F models for boyfriends, and I like my skeevy long-haired big Italian boyfriend. I would agree though that women should take the initiative more than they do. I got into a relationship w/ my boyfriend because I totally sought him out! I knew he was really smart, I thought he looked attractive and that he was a good, polite person, so I went for him! I think when women sit there waiting to be approached, and guys are all nervous, everyone loses.
 
What I mean my Flaunting, is more of "bragging" or being cocky. Nothing turns me off faster then a guy stuck on himself. ----If you have worked hard for what you have, either your body/car/ect. You have every right to be proud. But there is a fine line between being proud and being cocky.

I think we all need somthing to be turned on about.

We all see hundreds of people for everyone that we get to know so it stands to reason that good looks will give someone more opportunities. I also believe that the greatest attraction for the opposite sexes is sex. The need for sex is in our genes. Both men and women are hugely guilty of placing enormous emphasis on looks. I am one of the worst for that but looks will get them nowhere without a personality that I see strenghts in. I suspect people generally need something unique to attract the opposite sex. Could be a nice butt, breasts, face, leggs, income, car, attitude, big cock, super personality, accomplishments. I frequently get to know beautiful women who are mystified when I suddenly lose interest in them. They usually don't need much of a personality and many of them don't try. Maybe we should blame guys for letting them get away with being shallow or stupid. I know that I do 1000% better when I am in shape but I still need personality unless she just wants to fuck. No shortage of sluts. I think what irritates me about many women is the way that so many deny that good looks are important to them. And their denial of the attraction of a big cock. When I wear pants that show a "big crotchy look" I get about 1000% more interest. I still rarely do that. Thank the lord I have something besides intelligence and health, it is fun to be hit upon in my opinion. I just wish that more women were more forward. I like to have my ass grabbed by a stranger, it is positive feedback. It is even more fun when they repeatedly grab your dick but mostly just strippers are that forward. I don't see strippers unless I'm on vacation. I spend too much money for one thing. I agree 100% .. women at bars, clubs and parties always go for looks first, than its about the money and brains ..body hugging jeans and shirt always attracts women {and a few gays too}. I met women with rich but ugly fat or skinny hubbies who are willing to have a fling with you because of your fit-body. most complement my arms and chest but only one older woman {48yr old} was all over my ass..

For some weird reason I seem to look most at where the neck meets the shoulder area....Well there is a few things that attract me but that being one that was not mentioned.
