The program is very sound from scientific point of view. Russian scientist say uncompromisingly that you need high volume of loading for a big and long muscle growth. 30-150 quality reps per bodypart.
GVT is pretty good since 100 reps is in high but not extreme range of required rep amount.
The Russians are strong despite themselves...if you ask me. My opinion though.
I have a very good friend who did the Russian Volume routine...tore both pecs after 4 weeks of training. I saw him burn that routine, then urinate on it.
I got fairly good results with it. I think it's 10x10, starting with 60% (?) max and keeping that weight for all ten sets. The last sets really get painful.
