George, Digger, BRR - Petition for Training Mods

Greetings, Uppers.

Ever since Rick had a thread some weeks ago suggesting that EF would soon be likely to appoint fresh, replacement mods, there has been an expectation of and rising disappointment in the lack of the instatement of new mods chosen from the regular and respected contributors to the Weights and Training Forum.

Some of the Elite Mods have made efforts to help out in this interim time but there is a strong feeling that we would be best served by having mods who are of the current crop of regular contributors.

I write to urge you to speed this process or, at least, to inform us where in the process we currently stand and your best estimates of when we will be appointed fresh mods or informed that it isn't going to happen.

Popular suggestions so far seem to be:
Blut Wump
Cynical Simian
Silver Shadow

I realise that Rick has written against any kind of popularity contest for mods and that they should and shall be chosen and appointed purely at Admin's consideration and discretion. I post those names merely since those members have stated a willingness to do the job and their appointment would, I believe, meet with general approval which would make the task of moderating easier for everyone.

The Shadow has honestly informed us that the job should reasonably come with a 5 Million Karma bonus. I think most of us would be prepared to work with a value somewhere in the 1 to 2 million range. j/k

Sorry for being so slow.

i was the slow one...

Anywat I assume that thread should be deleted or lockae as there's no need for 2 threads.

This is what I had to say in my thread.

As said in the past this forum doesn't need much in terms of modding but it does need someone (or some people) who are here on a daily basis and know what goes on here to clean up from time to time and squash the odd flame thread.

We currently have no mod in this forum that is a regular here. I feel either of both blut wump, Cynical Simian & silver_shadow are more then perfect candidates for the task in hand.

So please admin make these 3 mods and I assure you will see the true potential of this forum.

Make sure you have:

Tylenol for the head-aches

Midol to pass out as neeeded.

STUCK

I just wanted to add my support to having one or more of blut wump, Cynical Simian or silver_shadow as a mod in the training forum.

Just to do some housekeeping, etc. From time to time, we have good ideas on improving the board but lack the mod power to get 'er done.

I'd be happy to have Cinical Simian, Silver Shadow, or Blut Wump.....or all three. Just showing support.

We are holding off on new mods till the end of June.

i think the answer is probably "no - no new mods."
The Shadow has more time to devote around here nowadays.
just speculation on my part.

If that's so then maybe he or some other nice moderator could clean away these stickies having no bearing on training.

Stickies??

More than one that doesnt address training??

Folks....if you have a request - all it takes is a pm

What is the big deal about having one mod that eveyone in this forum wants here? Why the big hold up/ resistance?

The members vid thread needs to be made a sticky and a mod to go through it, clean it up and keep after it.

And these 2 threads have nothingto dowith training yet are stickies for some reason.

i think the ASS online sticky is to let us know what to do with spammers/scammers
as for the introduce yourself sticky - well, this one has resisted unsticking :p

Dunno,....that is why I stuck this thread for y'all
I'm pretty sure he was referring to the "Introduce Yourself" thread.

As for this thread and DJ's corresponding one. I get the impression that they've served their purpose and have now become little more than a double eyesore and an annoying reminder. Thanks for stickying them but I think they can be allowed to drift away now.

If the lack of updates/action on this constitutes our answer, I second the following...

It's pretty clear that they don't want to do it.

My question is, why not? What's the big deal? Do mods have access to some sort of revenue or get a cut of something or what?

that IS a joke - right??

Take a look around at all the spamming on the board in the last week.....thats where all the attention is at the moment

I'm not cutting the sticky down either

And you know, Shadow, for your next effort I'd like to suggest you consider a Dbol only website. Or possibly one that also sells Winstrol RTD's. With the seasonal flows you could hit the beach in Mexico every spring and then write it off by doing some serious networking with your revenue base.

I read the Elite Fitness News this morning, dated today:

I'd like to bring everyone's attention to the section on moderators. It kind of makes you go "Hum". With all due respect to AAP and Daisy_Girl, a more motley collection of de-modded, banned and generally absent members is hard to imagine.

...

Next, it gives me great pleasure to introduce you to our newest Discussion Board Moderators! Just click on their names to see their posts on Elite.

The New Anabolic Discussion Board Mods:
genarr3
RADAR

EDIT: and hello to the new mods. hope to see some of you around soon

Is this some kind of joke that only admins and mods understand? I can only think Spellwin has lost interest in EF and he's trying his best to drive us away. There are some good people on this board, but they stay despite its administration, not because of it. It's time to move on.

It seems that mass exoduses from boards result from people getting fed up with admin. and spawning a new board. I like elite, I met a lot of cool people on here and there is a good solid core of non-specialized trainees, meaning it isn't STRICTLY strongman or powerlifting or bodybuilding or throwing, there are a lot of people training because they love it and looking to improve just 'because'.

There are a lot of people who find it because of the selling points, all nonsense like sex, scandelous pics, steroid books, get big quick 'secrets' and supplements, these are people who would normally get sucked into the endless web of 'trying the latest (insert program/supplement/drug) ' when all they have are modest, attainable goals. There are a lot of good people who can set a lot of people straight on this site with good info. and by de-mything an activity (weightlifting) with more voo-doo bullshit surrounding it than any other thing I can think of.

I think that the difference between what the board truly is (a solid place where people can exchange info. and experiences and help newcomers get past the 'bodybuilding' voo doo bullshit) and what Admin. wants the board to be (a place to pile in traffic all day every day and make money on bogus supps and overpriced e-books) have caused a big rift. I think if the solid core group left, you'd still have TONS of traffic because naive 16 year old guys will still google "steeroidzz, tit$$, and peczz" and find this site, but only none of us
would be here to steer them clear of snake oils and $60 'e-books'.

I personally like a fast moving board......the more serious boards are cool too (and I like posting on a couple of them too), you have to use your real name so it eliminates internet tough guys non-stop trolling and all, but the drawback is that they move S L O W.....and if you have a day job with lots of down time (like me for the next few months) you like the movement and action. The downside to this is that there is a percentage of posters on quick, busy, 'commercial boards' who DON'T know much about training theory, so you'll have a dozen or so posts every couple hours like "How can you build teh BIGGEST pec$$....dumbell or barbell incline????"......usually somebody will have the patience to set them straight or direct them to the sticky (a good move to weed out trolls and kids who had a brain fart while hitting on chicks on myspace and decided to ask for advice they will never follow and instead spend their allowance money on xtreme pumpz 2 or some such thing)......either way it is entertaining as long as 90% of the time people respond respectfully and with the intent to help.

Just some random thoughts on the board I guess.....and what typically happens when boards designed to be commercial, generate traffic, and NOT become 'too informative' actually get a few handfuls of quality posters who are here to share and learn and contribute.......my stance is stay and continue do what I do and enjoy, due to career paths so to speak, I won't be able to post much after the Fall this year, so if I could steer just 1 newbie away from No-Xplode and towards productive, progressive strength training, then I will feel fulfilled. Afterall, that lost kid that you talk to about training theory and progressive overload and calories in vs calories out and compound lifts, may very well be the World's Strongest Man some day all because you provided him with info. he would have NEVER obtained otherwise......or some middle aged guy who just suffered a heart attack may find a lifelong hobby to practice and stay healthy for the rest of his life because he was shown how to properly train and given a way to distinguish what really matters and what is a money-making BS scheme.

Oh, and of course great post, T.

I've been thinking the same thing about how the training board is pretty much antithetical to much of the rest of the site and to the ways people make money in the BBing industry as a whole. I feel the same way about board "speed" too. Even if there are a lot of dumb threads out there, some of them spark really interesting discussions and prompt guys like you and madcow to share or explain things that you wouldn't otherwise.

Quality right there... had to 'bump' it :coffee:

I'm aware of no better training forum for a solid mix of chat and training info across the many lifting disciplines coupled with the strong sense of community we have here. One of our greatest features is that anyone is welcome and welcomed and I've seen several stay around probably for that very reason. Madcow's evangelism of the 5x5 and it's underlying principles gave us all something tangible to work with and around over the past 18 months and provided a glue for the forum.

I didn't make that post to have a dig at EF, just for the irony apparent to each of us. At least one of those 'mods' is banned from EF, some were mods but were removed from the position and have hardly been seen since and we already know about some of the long-absent ones.

this board is the best on EF IMO and right up there with other sites. unfortunately, as CS pointed out, this is antithetical to the way the whole BB "industry" works which is probably a bigger revenue driver then good solid training info. so i guess "they" will usually pull the strings... sad but true.

i also wanted to add that i've been on EF a long time, sometimes lurking, sometimes actively posting and sometimes not. the one thing that stands out here is the lack of cock sucking and ass licking that you often find on the ASS board... remember JA & satch (just to mention a few)?
