Gear for starting out

Im going to start competing in powerlifting, and i was wondering what kind of gear I needed to get to start out with. I know I will need a good belt, but I'm thinking that I should probably wait on a bench shirt and squat suit. Your thoughts? Also, what is a good belt to buy and where is a good place to buy from?

What kind of training background do you have? What methods will you be using?

As far as a belt, Inzer makes pretty good ones. You can check them out here.

As far as equipment, its hard to say not knowing your background. You also need equipment that will comply to the rules and regulations of the federation with which are to compete.

I've been training hard for about 1.5 yrs. i posted my current routine in the training forum. Have a look. When I finish up on that routine, i will probably be starting Westside.

How soon do you plan to begin competing? You will need to start working with you shirt and/or suit several weeks out to get the feel for it.. They can dramatically alter your normal groove. Plus you may have to send them back for alterations a time or two..

Also you will need a singlet which u can also get at monstermuscle.com And don't forget knee and wrist wraps, also at mm...

When you do get your equipment, order from Inzer directly. Don't waste your time going thru MonsterMuscle they are a middle man.

Call Inzer's number directly and tell them what you want.

In my opinion, first get yourself some wraps (wrist and knee), get yourself some groove briefs (everybody likes the Frantz one's) I have Inzer briefs and they do me just fine. Get yourself a nice belt and get training aids (i.e. bands, box for box squatting)

I have had my bands for about 2 or 3 weeks now and I think it is the most phenomenal thing I have ever trained with. I made the mistake of waiting so long before I got my bands

Peace,
Mike
