What's a solid amount of time to train naturally before hopping on an cycle?

You need breakdown your individual goals and risk profile. This isn't really something that we can answer for you as most will respond differently.
Things to consider:
- What is your end goal? What does your physique and lifestyle look like at the peak of your fitness/ physique journey? And do you even need PED's to achieve it?
- How important is your fertility to you? Do you plan on having kids in the future?
- Have you gotten the most out of dialing in your nutrition?
- How long have you been consciously improving your training methodology and execution?
- How well educated are you on the risks and benefits of an enhanced lifestyle?
- Can you afford coaching/ guidance?
I know people who were perfectly well within their right to begin their first cycle after only a few years of training, and others who have been at it for a decade now who I wouldn't recommend touch gear.
