Anybody who Knows me or has read my posts knows Im long winded, So you may have to follow along-there will be a moral to this story.
First off, Im by no means trying to influence ANYONE on this board not to do business with RDC. I cant stress that enough! What I am getting at is his piss poor attitude in which he treats equipment buying customers! While I realise I am a nobody in the powerlifting world(gimme time, this may change), I am a paying customer who works hard for the extra money I have to spend on non-essential items. When I do regular business with someone, I would like to know that my business is appreciated even a little.
In the past three years, I have done quite a bit of business with him. I have purchased the Westside Videos,Pl USA videos, deadlift suits, wrist and knee wraps, belts, magazines, bands, various shirts, books, supplements, etc. If you've been around the sport any amount of time-you know roughly what the cost of these items are.
I once ordered a half squat suit(trainer brief). I was charged for a single ply, but actually got a double ply, and when I realised the mistake had been made, and went to pay for the differencethe next time I was in, RDC actually had the nerve to argue with me that they hadnt made a mistake, that I didnt know what the difference in single and double ply was. WTF- I wasnt tring to return the product, just make good on the mistake the dingbat who filled the order made.
I've had about the same experience with getting fitted for a bench shirt. I have ordered a couple of shirts and never has he been anywhere close on the sizing. I had 2 veteran lifters(both in the 250 lb weight rancge)stuff me in a shirt he sent me. It was a single ply blast shirt, and with them spotting me, I couldnt get 405 to even touch. My wife called him to ask him on the sizing, and he proceeded to tell her we didnt know what we were doing. He said if we can get it on, its the right size. Tell me Mr.RDC-If you cant lockout a weight that it takes to touch your chest, what F'n good is the shirt anyway.
So-I had two shirts he wouldnt let me return.
Which brings me to last week. Seeing I already had the Half Trainer Suit, I had a pretty good Idea what I wanted in power briefs and a new squat suit. I called him and told him what briefs I needed and that I would be by to pick them up Friday. I had to call him back after he checked inventory on what I ASKED FOR. He did not have what I wanted, and instead tried to sell me what he had in stock-No where near the size I asked for. After halfway backing down to him on the size I would take, he asked me what organization I lifted In.
I told him INSA to which he sarcastically replied"what in the world is that". I proceeded to tell him It was a new organization around the Dallas area. He again sarcastically replied"Oh yeah, thats Kirks little meets," At this point I became furiuos!!
==Note to lifters==I AM BY NOW MEANS SLAMMING ANY ORGANIZATION IN MY NEXT PARAGRAPH==
If the USPF =which RDC supports= is such a strong organization, then WHY THE FUCK do they have to run there meets together with Texas, or run them together with the APF. I absolutely took offense to his comment. I've said before, that I drive to Texas to compete because of strict and fair judging(Two things that are uncommon in MOST OK meets)--AGAIN, IM BY NO MEANS FED BASHING!! If you feel your Org or promoter does good by you, support them, and tell them once in awhile you appreciate them.
As you can tell, I am FINISHED with RDC. I will throw money in the ditch before I give it to him. Dont worry RDC-I wont take up anymore of your valuable internet time when Im in there by forcing you to take my money! You just go back to your cubicle and wait for Ed Caon or somebody important to come in. This Is a real shame too, because I think you have the best Squat and deadlift suits in the business. But dont worry about me being unhappy. Im sure I can scrape around and find someone to sell me a new squat suit, all new wraps, a new benchshirt for my wife, supplements, etc. You just go back to the GoHeavy forum or whatever you were doing.
Now with the moral(Finally, I know). I would like to take the chane to encourage everybody to give our PL Gear dollars to people who appreciate it. Support those who support the meets!
I know everybody says they call INZER or TITAN and order there gear direct, but heres my opinion. Try doing business with the likes of MonsterMuscle or HouseOfPain. Who cares if it costs a buck or two more, the major suppliers will still get their money, and you will be helping the middlemen who support our shows . I personally will spend my next dollars with Rick Brewer from HOP. I have had the pleasure of meeting him at a couple of contests, and he has been nothing but generous in giving me advice when I was a raw rook in this sport. We need to show our support to the people who care about advancing the sport-Not those with other motives.
Damn-glad I got that off my chest!
Dont hate me for my opinion, but maybe learn something from it.
