front squat

can someone post up somepics of the front squat grips? someone had said that there are cossack grips, clean grips. are there any more? I would like to see these grips in action.

those 2 are the main ones. i have a lazy girl client that does her clean grip but it looks like she just got to the top of a bicep curl. weird and definitely not made for any weight but its funny. sorry...had to share.

cossack is resting across your front delts with your arms kindof crossed in front of you. hand pushing against the bar.

clean grip requires some wrist flexibility. wrist is bent way back basically and the bar is resting on your front delts as well. kindof like a closer grip shoulder press at the very bottom.

peace

I tried front squats recently for the first time and it was just so damn awkward having all that weight across my delts, and well... hell just having it in front! Is there a major benefit in these versus regular squats? Please tell me there is, so I know it's all for something?

Alsdo, I'm assuming it's regular to do less weight with these than regs. Am I wrong in this assumption?

Front squats use more quad and less hip/glute/ham involvement than regular squats.Your weights go down a lot but could be very effective as a burnout set? www.deepsqatter.com has some great info on it.One grip variation he uses is with two small vice grips clipped onto the bar which you just grip like handels.Ive never heard of this before but would be really easy to immplement and quite helpful i'd imagine.

Just fixed that. It's worth learning the clean grip for these, btw.

And make sure you're not leaning forward. The bar in front gives you a very different center of gravity. If you lean the same way you do with a back squat, you'll fry your back, and not in a good way.

I have tried the cossack grip when I do the front squats and it seems to choke me a little bit. just a little discomfort. I have yet to see a clean grip front squat pic though. that sounds like it hurts when performing it. well, thanks guys.
