Actually let me clarify... american cars post approx 1973 suck.
Old school muscle cars rule.

Even has goodies like speed sensitive steering, eletronically adjustable suspension, Limited slip differential ETC ETC.... Swap the differential from a NA to TT and with the above mods you will go 11's on the track real easy. It will also tear up the auto cross track.
Toyota Supra TT. This beast can be modified to 1100 HP on stock engine internals. Now that is impressive. But you can take a stock one and pull a few hoses and do some BASIC upgrades and get over 400hp at the wheels almost for free.
Both cars use only a 3.0 6cyl powerplant, which in my eyes is even more impressive.

You forgot to mention that both cars cost twice as much as a late model mustang/camaro. if equal amounts are spent there is no competition. the larger displacement V8's will smoke those ricers. not dissing you, those cars are dope. but all things are relative.

Way to support america's economy by buying foreign cars... (yes, I know it still supports the economy, but not as well as buying non-imports)
Delinquent said:I've wondered why I hear about an SS beating a cobra often. When you look at 1/4 mile and top speed specs, the Cobra wins easily which leads me to believe that the reason the Cobra loses is b/c of the driver not the car. I can't find a stock 1/4 mile time on google that beats the Cobra so what gives?

That was a cheap shot. My family has owned nothing but American cars until they realised they all depreciated like a mo fo and started to fall apart and were in and out of service with the dealer non stop. Then there were the re-calls.
So in short you may want to look into how many hundreds of thousands of AMERICAN workers work and Toyota and Honda assembling the cars just like at GM.

Of course the 2003 cobra is going to win its f'in supercharged. I dont think thats a fair comparison. And there wasnt an ss made in 2003 but if their was im sure it would have been modified the extra 30 horses to beat the snake. Still the zo6 was faster which is basically an lighter fbod with an ls6 engine which is not much different then the ls1 in the 2002 models. Id rather have a cobra though than a piece of shit rice burner. They sound like my dirt bike.
