ok, so FLDS does still practice "placement marriages", which are basically old testament no choice for you forced marriages. The LDS, which you presumably belong to does not practice these kinds of forced marriages but they do arranged marriages from time to time if both families agree to it. So that's what happened here and you're not copping to it. Your families set you up and certain "financial" incentives are in it for all parties involved if the two of you decided to marry.
