For homebrewers - sunflower oil

has anyone tried using sunflower oil as carrier?
i can't find gso locally and i'd much rather not have it shipped from somewhere else so i'm about to use sunflower oil since it's dirt cheap and i have it right here
it's 2-3$/liter so i can't complain

does anyone have experience with this as carrier oil instead of GSO? why isn't it used? it goes very smooth trough a 22g needle and it is thinner than GSO

Nope never used it. I only use GSO. Are you in the US?

I've used it, and had no problems at all.

Sunflowers are a huge GMO plant. I'd avoid sunflower oil at all costs.

I personally think GSO is overrated. or a long time I did not have easy access to GSO and used others, finally settling on Sesame oil. When GSO became available I bought some at more than 3 times the cost of the sesame and really could not see any noticeable difference for me.

Some people try to talk about the Omega 3 in GSO but try and find info about absorption of nutrients via injections, it hard info to verify. Then look at almost any vegetable carrier oil, and all of them have some pretty nice health benefits. Some people say they like it because its thinner, again I personally could not see any big difference, maybe its just me.

If thats what you have available and it is cheap, I say go for it. Later on if you have the chance to brew with some other carrier oils then you can compare and see what works for you.

i was redundant because i don't see many people using it and somehow everyone is religious about GSO for reasons i don't understand other than because it goes in smooth (-5seconds with the needle in you. big deal)

My thoughts exactly, plus I think its cheap in the US, it isnt here.

1. its cheap. $6-7 per bottle

WOW it is cheap in the US then...here in Mexico its almost 25 dollars a liter, way too expensive.
