For Hire!

Wilcox

High End Bro
Platinum
Hey guys.

As some of you may know. (basically none of you) I was recently pointed to one of the lead techs for NTBM Canada.

I am actually a designer, but I do both well.

Some of you may know that I grew up through some rough times involving activites that I know I shouldnt have gotten myself into which that being said I regret.

Anyways, Im struggling to make 405 a month for my rent. I live in a studio apartment that is literally the size of a walk in closet (ask Gawd) ahaa.

Anyways. I am quite the web designer and am VERY dedicated. Im on almost all day, and can fit anybodies schedule.

Basically what Im trying to say is. Im a designer for hire.

If anyone has a job worth 405 a month PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

I honestly dont have money for my rent this month and its due in about....well, tomorrow.

If you would like to see some of my work, post here or PM me.

Gawd, Needto, Orbit, ExtremePeptide, and some others can vouch for me if needed. I appreciate it guys.

Im not trying to advertise, just really lookin to find some help and get back on my game.

For those who are going to say get a job etc. I have applied around 40 different places, and went to multiple agencies to find a job. Someone with my record ussually has a tough time finding a job, which is why Im sticking to designing right now. No other options out there for me.

Sucks bro.., tough times man.. Hope someone hooks u up..

Sounds like you may have to do a min wage gig until you get your biz running

not trying to be a wise guy

Yeah I know pick. I know everyone will give me shit for this, but Ive applied at multiple mcdonalds multiple times. :/. on 4/20/11 they had a day where they were hiring 50 grand employees and I still hadnt gotten hired. Was pretty pathetic and upsetting.

Hahhah sorry bro I had to laugh at that.. But it's not funny at the same time.. It's not going to get any better anytime soon. Sucks dude seriously!

Yeah ... I was thinking of a locally owned restaurant that wouldn't run such a rigorous background check

My company took advantage of the recession and hired people (experts) at 1/3 of their typical wage because they were so desperate to land any position

Hey let's start a little charity event for you.. Everyone chip in $1.. Not trying to be funny dude..

Smart thinking on the companies end.

Im not a bad designer at all. I can design better than most out there and can make equally good websites as some of the corporate businesses out there.

But Im about 50 times cheaper heh. Rough times. Times just get harder. Takes money to make money I guess.

Very nice of you mate, But its alright. I dont want to take other peoples money, Id rather work for it than feel bad for taking what others have earned. But then again maybe thats why im in this position haha

Start working the freelance circuit for sure. Check out graphicriver.net, themeforest - I have some very basic design skills but do consulting and I rely on these types of resources to build the framework for things that I give clients.

Wow, 40! (Yeah, that's not impressive. You sound lazy.)

We need to know moar about your skills and qualifications, education, etc. So far you've given no reason anyone should hire you. Is english your second language or something?

:cow:

I do basic wordpress sites and print collaterals - working on a semi-longterm project at the moment that doesn't require any design at the moment (regarding my freelance stuff)

For my real job I do inside sales/marketing and my boss always wants weird random and "instant" stuff and I'll download indd stuff to work from for a base at least - I learn on the go. I have an undergrad in Finance and MBA but no design experience - I started doing freelance writing on oDesk which gave me the confidence and experience to call myself a freelancer/consultant (sometimes that's all you need)- if you haven't checked it out, I would. There is a thread someplace here that mocks it - and a lot of what it says is true. My trick for bidding for jobs on oDesk is always to overbid their budget - if they want quality they will take it as opposed to somebody overseas that does it for dirt cheap, but you need to build up your feedback kind of like ebay - or have a good portfolio to send. I think there is actually a lot of web work on there - i do have a good rating on there - but don't do any web work through it, only writing. If you want to work on my team we could maybe work something out as I have the rating, but not the skills to bid on these jobs. PM me if you check it out and you're interested.

I said if anyone is interested in a designer I would be glad to show them my work.

English is not my second language. Seeing as how I'm in chat and conversation I could give a shit how my grammar is right now.

Ive worked with Photoshop for around 8 years now or so.

I am Microsoft Certified. I could not afford school because my parents somewhat abandoned me when I was 18. I was taking college classes for Web design and graphic design when I was in high school.

40 is impressive when you live in wisconsin. Sorry that not everybody has a car.

I will definitely give that a look. Thanks for letting me know. I will get back to you sometimes tomorrow if that's alright.

When you're begging potential employers to hire you using proper grammar and punctuation is something to consider.

I'm from WI. Fourty is a pathetic number. You're not trying hard enough. And yes, anyone who's not a poor owns a car; it's WI, not Manhatten. Surely you're not *only* looking in WI, because that'd just be fucking stupid.

Photophop and Microsoft? Sounds like hobbies, not something enmployers have a demand for. And drop the sob story about your parents; that's an autoding for anyone looking to hire employees.

You need two things: 1) legitimate skills that are valuable and in demand, and 2) better marketing skills. If you come across to potential employers like you do here, it's no wonder why you're unemployed.

:cow:

Im looking for small jobs right now. Not an actual full time paid job.

Im a friendly guy who can design.

All the banners on ruthless supplements I made.

Im sorry Im poor? I came out from a gang and tryed to turn my life around. Was addicted to almost anything I could get my hands on.

I really just work one a person to person basis atm.

Ramy Hill Sales - Custom Menu Covers Vancouver, Hospitality Products, Uniforms.. is another example of a site I made.

And why on earth would I apply in different states? I dont have a car. I have no money to my name. Im living off of NTBM rep pay from better bars.

I have lived on the streets for weeks upon weeks. Lived in fields and had to eat dogfood for 2 weeks.

Trying to put me down really isnt going to work. I think for turning my life around Im doing a pretty damn good job.

also the orbitnutrition logo on his main site is my logo that I created for him as well.

Somewhat yeah. I just think putting someone down after struggling hard to overcome something, is very rude and immature.

In that case. Everyone fuck off except for everyone whos being legit aha. So basically, fuck off samoth -_- :P

u mad cuz I'm not telling you what you want to hear?

Lemme guess, when hiring managers don't give you respect you get all ghetto on them and threaten to gank them wit yo gak.

Welcome to the real world. If you can't handle it, go back to the streets.

:cow:

Hmm... in that case, perhaps rejoining a gang would be the best option for you.

:cow:

Hahha why u guys fucking with this guy.. This guy is being honest and spilling his life story. He's just trying to make it thru this tough time.. Hey good job bro.. haha some of you guys are assholes. Hah

Damn, it's been a few honest posts and a few bullshit posts. No need to get all serious. Just hope you are never in his position.

Every day is a struggle to not join the local gang and get addicted to drugs, man.

It's okay, though. I just poast defensive internet webtweets when I can't get a job in a specialized industry in a small WI town with no legitimate skills or education, then cry for anonymous people to console me with "it's okay" and "you're awesome!" even when such vapid, unsubstantive bullshit doesn't help me in the least.

You meant "English," you smug prick.

Dude. Get off your soapbox. He's an ex con with no resources trying to turn his life around.

Stop viewing life from your very fragmented perspective of it.

Not everyone has the same upbringing. I'm sure you have a supportive family, he didn't.

You've lived possibly the most sheltered , cookie cutter and mundane life on here. You're in no position to give anyone a perspective on world view.

If you're serious about turning from mr chemist into mr business, you should really learn how to talk to people. No one wants to deal with a smug know it all asshole.

I live in Wisconsin and when I was out of work, I applied for over 100 jobs! Different field/qualifications though. I applied for 20 jobs alone at the company that finally hired me. Persistence pays off!
I'm sorry you're on hard times. Where in WI are you located?

I think you missed the part about having a criminal record

I think you missed the part about having a criminal record

No, I saw that. But, I don't know the details. Criminal record could mean a lot of things. I don't think he specified. Regardless, there are companies out there that will hire people with criminal backgrounds (Glad and Lumberg both have jobs)

Hey Wilcox, have you put any ads on Craigslist to offer up your skills? That might be a start. I think it's also good that you're putting the word out to everyone you know.

Where in WI do you live? Just curious. I'm right outside Milwaukee

BTW I think you should keep being persistent about looking for a job while at the same time putting the word out there about your design skills. it may be that you have to take a job doing something other than design while you get your design business or whatever, off the ground. Good luck to you!

Crazy! I have actually been applying to as many as possible. I figure an agency should be able to find me a job. I guess if you put in how many jobs the agency has put me in for too I have applied for around 100 jobs.

I live on the east side of milwaukee actually. I just moved here after being evicted from my other place.

If you know where shank hall is i live right across the street.

I thought itd be easy to find a job in milwaukee but I was wrong.

Yeah its definitely not easy but its good you're at least with an agency so they can look for work for you too. I still say posting an ad in Craigslist would help you advertise your design skills to someone who may just be starting out themselves and they want someone with skills better than their own but who they dont have to pay a lot for. I think there's a niche there if you look for it. Good luck
