Food allergy Question??

Just found out recently that i am allergic to wheat. Now there was no mention of any allergy to gluten, but i am wondering if most ppl who are allergic to wheat are sensitive to gluten as well?

Thanks

wheat is a part pf gluten allergy
gluten allergy also includes oats, barley, and rye
out of all most people have the mpst trouble w/ wheat

it's not a bad idea to stick with gluten free food

be careful with wheat it's in a lot of foods you would not expect so if you eat anything out of a box read labels

Velvett says it well.

Gluten may well be your problem. The reason wheat is so much in the forefront is we are a wheat eating nation.

I would steer away from glutens.

did you get this allergy assessment from a doctor? please explain the results of the enitre exam if you did, like what they said and how the exam was set up. thanks.

The allergy test was done through blood tests by my family doctor. The results showed that i am allergic to egg whites, peanuts, dairy and wheat. There as no specific mention of gluten. I am curious though if i would be sensitive to gluten as well.

Egg whites too...

peanuts are fairly popular as is dairy

Have you been avoiding these foods?
If so, how long?
Have you noticed a difference?

I have food allergies too - long story but when I stay away from what I should not eat I feel great - eat them and I feel like someone beat the crap out of me.

There is a lot on the web about these type of food allergies - so get reading.

Good Luck

thanks. what did they recommend?

Honestly they haven't really gave me a whole lot of advice. Last time i was in doc mentioned something about some type of shots to desensitise me to the airborne allergies that i have. He obviously told me to avoid foods that i am allergic to, which is easier said then done. I am going to have to see a dietician to figure out what foods i can eat and can't eat. There are obvious foods that i know i should stay away from but wheat is in pretty much everything so i really need some help on this one.
