First Anavar Cycle - Log

I am a female trying my first Anavar cycle. I have 20 mg tabs and I am cutting them in half to take 10 mg/day the first week. I was advised to take 10 mg in the morning followed by 10 mg at night, but 20 mg in one day intimidates me a little bit, so I'm going to stick with my gut and stay with 10 mg the first week.

Diet:
I follow an intermittent fasting approach to my diet. It works really well for me and helps me follow my calories and macros much more easily than a regular eating schedule. I fast for 20 hours a day and have an eating window between 12-4 pm, or sometimes 2-6 pm depending on my schedules. I follow a 50/30/20 ratio for protein/carb/fats in my diet.

Work outs:
I lift 6 days a week and I do cardio every day.
-Monday - Chest/Back + 25 min HIIT sprints
-Tuesday - Legs/Tris + 30 min low intensity cardio
- Wednesday - Shoulders/Bis + 25 min HIIT sprints
- Thursday - Chest/Back + 30 min low intensity cardio
- Friday - Legs/Tris + 30 min low intensity cardio
- Saturday - Shoulders/Bis + 25 min HIIT sprints
- Sunday - Off

My Stats:
-Age - 21
-Height - 5'5"
-Weight - 145
-Body Fat - about 20


^ I'm aware my current lifting split is a little strange but I rather enjoy the awkward grouping of these muscle groups lol, makes my life interesting.

I get plenty of sleep every night and I have a very healthy and knowledgable relationship with lifting weights and food. I have attached a photo so you all know where I'm starting from.
 
I forgot to mention my GOALS while on Anavar!! My number one goal is to add a bit of mass. In the past 3 years of lifting, I've added significant mass and 20 pounds of weight overall. I have never dabbled with AAS before, so this is my first experience.

Also - my calories usually hover around 1800. Thanks guys!
 
Strange or not, it's whatever works for you...so really it's not strange. Just different. :) and nothing is wrong with that.

Remember, to gain you gotta eat for it, even while on AAS...so keep that in mind, don't go too low with cals
 
my old split was almost identical...kept things interesting...
 
Second day was great. Felt just fine. My lifting went well and I did 30 minutes of sprints later on in the day. Haven't experience any sides whatsoever, although it was still only Day 2.
 
Give it a week or so to let your body adjust.. It's way too soon to see sides
 
Day 6 and I had an amazing leg day today. So many squats sets! I did 20 minutes of cardio after lifting and did a 3 mile run tonight. I had a lot of energy today for some reason. Feeling great. Still no sides!
 
Today is day 8 and I did chest and back at the gym today with HIIT. I have to say, my muscles felt extremely tight today.. even walking 10 minutes to my boyfriend's apartment made my calves burn like crazy. I had to stretch them out on the side of the road LOL. But I feel really good and my gym session was a success!

Today is day 14. I have bumped my dosage up SIGNIFICANTLY. last week I had increased my dosage to 20 mg/day and I continued to feel fine. Today, my trainer recommended I increase the dosage again to 30 mg/day. I still have not experienced any negative side effects. I haven't noticed any significant changes in my body besides how I feel when I work out. My strength is steadily increasing.
 
Increasing to 20 mg was a good decision for me I think. I can feel it now and I'm really taking advantage of it. I don't know if I should go up again to 30 or not, my trainer is really the one who is guiding me through this. What do you think about it? Bad move?

Girl if I'm a veteran user, 5'10", 200lbs at ~15% bodyfat and I'm fine with 10mg/day, you should be too.

I know what to look for...today is officially day 4, and I started feeling it last night. Noticed more vascularity and that 'on' feeling.

I've run var at dosages that make pros have big eyes, I get what you're saying, but as a female more is not better. Sure you'll feel results at 50-60mg but is it good? Hell no. You're gonna start getting sides that outweigh any results, and I'm speaking from pure experience.

If the stuff you have is good, 10mg is fine. With anavar 20mg is the absolute ceiling with dosage, any more than that and it's overkill.
 
I tend to agree with this ^^^

but have seen dosages as high as 50mg for women

its dependent on YOUR goals and what sides are acceptable to you

for me anything above 15-20mg is dimishing returns
 
If it's real legitimate properly dosed anavar then 20mg is the highest a female needs to go.

I just said I've run extreme dosages myself but it's not recommended, and I can honestly say I'm fine with my baby dose I'm on right now
 
Personally i don't think anything over 10mg is better esp for a female (I have over 40 yrs in this field)
More is not necessary better...down the road you will thank me later.Your main focus should be on Diet, Exercise & rest, leaving the var to enhance your hard work.

BUT if were talking womens bodybuilding vs say...figure vs say..bikini or a goal of looking good naked
you're gonna see bigger doses when the wiminnz start to look more masculine (no offense to female bodybuilders AT ALL)

so...goal dependent

alternately if you're not looking to look jacked and dry ...and I mean REALLY jacked ...that should tell you whats an appropriate dose
 
I didn't touch on extreme BBing doses because the OP does not have that goal in mind. No reason to even bring up those special circumstances and put the idea that it's acceptable in a newbie's head.
 
Lmao when have I ever said you were wrong, much less always wrong?

All I'm saying is yes, if you're an extreme bodybuilder who is 'looking to get extremely jacked and dry' then sure, go high, I know several pros who have done this and of course have suffered the health related consequences...they do this usually toward their show date and under supervision of their coaches.

There isn't a need to bring this up with a chick who doesn't have that goal in mind. All that will do is tell newbies reading this 'oh, so we can go up to 50mg var? Sweet, I'll start today!' and we do not want that.
 
great work so far... you want to be careful increasing your dosage too quickly... your introducing a foreign substance into your body and without prior experience, you really have no idea how it will react... the sides can creep up very quickly and ruin what could have been an extremely productive cycle... There are varying factors in properly dosing... Listen to the experienced users... psizzle has a lot of experience and has no reason to guide you otherwise... its good to be aggressive but at the same time, not overdo it... I am not saying you can't increase dosage, but you need to do it wisely... good luck with everything...
 
I'm going to stay on 10 mg in the morning and 10 mg at night. You guys are right, I don't have experience with this and I'm still young and I don't want to ruin myself. If i start seeing any sides, I may even reduce it to 7.5mg in the morning and 7.5mg at night. Honestly, I don't think my trainer really knows what he's talking about 100% of the time, and I think he just wants to guarantee that I see insane results. However, I'm not looking for insane results... This is completely supplementary to a program I've been dedicated to for a long time. I have a clean diet and I never miss my work outs. Thanks for knocking some sense into me guys!! I need to remember to take all advice with a grain of salt :)


P.S. Did shoulders and arms today with a ton of high intensity cardio. I feel great. Knocked out a ton of pull ups for fun too :P Intermittent fasting is still going strong. I've lengthened my eating window from 4 hours to 6 hours just so I can actually get enough calories and protein into my diet.
 
Yeah, just keep in mind that just because you don't 'feel it' as strong at the lower doses doesn't mean it isn't doing it's job. I'm not feeling the same as I did on a higher dosage but I can tell it's a good dosage for me right now.

I was training a girl who suggested upping her dose to 30mg even thou she was getting great results at 20mg, i told her 20mg should be absolute max but she did it anyways. Long story short she ended up with nasty red bumps all over her quad area for months. More isn't always better, just stick with 20mg and your be fine!

Yup. Var is relatively mild at the low doses but it gets ugly when you go above 20mg for women

Any trainer who recommends that a female increase her AAS dosage is not to be trusted.

It's a fallacy that some orals are easier on the liver than others. It's the 17AA that is the most strain to the liver and 50 mgs is 50 mgs no matter what it is.

I have to agree. A trainer telling a 21 yr old female for a first cycle to go up to 30 mgs after such a short period or even at all... Is missing the mark.

OP..I think 20 is too high and I agree with psizzle. Sides don't appear right away, generally speaking, so I'd watch for them around the 5-8 week mark. That is why the general rule of thumb is to run a smaller dose for the full cycle or at least 6 weeks to guage the response.

Thank you for all the posts. I'm really happy to get opinions from different people. It really helps! Today is easter Sunday, and also officially the end of my second week on var. I didn't exactly stick to clean eating today, but I didn't really intend to because of the holiday. It was my day off from the gym (thank god, I'm so sore!) so I've been kicking back all day. Happy Easter everyone!!
 
30mgs?! Yikes.
The highest I went up on my var cycle was 20mgs, around 4 weeks in and immediately (about a week later) started to get horrible acne, swollen (and painful) lady parts, and a yeast infection that took 2 weeks to get rid of. Oh and my legs would get so cramped/tight/painful during cardio that I wasn't able to do any. Not even walk.
More is not better.

I've realized this and I'm going to stick with 20 mg. Going above that isn't an option for me anymore, I won't risk it. In other news, I had a fabulous chest day and did an intense hour of high intensity cardio. I think I've also begun experiencing my first negative side effect, SHAVING. I have to shave my legs every other day now! LOL. But I feel good still and my pumps are great. :)

Keep an eye on your other body parts....face etc. For hair I mean. It takes longer into the cycle but at the higher doses, it can happen.
 
I haven't noticed anything yet, but I'm 2.5 weeks in so who knows. I'm generally not a hairy person, but I wouldn't doubt it with 20 mg/day. Thanks for the tips guys!

Legs was today and I bumped up my squat 10 lbs to 185. I put up 5 reps. I'm still running every day, but I have to stretch considerably longer before and after my runs because my legs were so tight after lifting today.
 
Hey there, I'm about the start the same cycle. Have you felt many strength gains so far? Perhaps an increase in your capacity for intensity?
 
Yes I've noticed significant strength gains.. I've increase weight in almost all aspects of my work outs and increased intensity with my cardio!!
 
So it's day 22 this morning and my muscles are sooo tight. The past couple days I've been waking up so stiff and having to stretch before even beginning my day. I'm hoping I'll still be able to continue doing cardio. My muscles are also really hard... like rocks almost. I've become only slightly more vascular in the past weeks and my appetite has remained unchanged for the most part. I have noticed a slight increase in size in my arms and shoulders and quads, but not much of a decrease in body fat (as we know var isn't a fat burner). I'll post pictures later today or this week for you guys.
 
So here are pictures from today. This is 22 days into my cycle. I've gained a lot of strength, some size, but experienced no significant fat loss. I've been getting an adequate amount of calories (about maintenance) and supplementing cardio with my lifting sessions. I lift 6 days a week.

I'd increase calories, you have to eat over maintenance on cycle (well off too) if you want to gain.
As far as after cycle, I felt like crap afterwards on my first cycle. Depressed, broke out even worse.
I've seen a few women take Forged Post Cycle afterwards so I'm going to give it a shot. 5htp should help any depression as well.
 
Forged is good but tastes like shit. I usually just do Forma or bridge
 
Women are lucky, we don't need extensive pct like the boys

Just grab a bottle of bridge or a bottle of Forma and you'll be good. I usually just run Bridge then, literally, use it as a bridge

If you're getting really stiff etc...I'd drop the dose back. I know I'm beating a dead horse but it really isn't necessary to be at 20. I didn't lose much fat on my first cycle either. Gained a lot and maintained most of it so my overall composition changed but I didn't actually drop a lot of fat.
 
Yeah...I'm only doing 12mg a day now of nicely dosed liquid var and that's plenty, I actually might back off a bit

Yup... And my period didnt come back for I believe 4 weeks after stopping.
I too gained quite a bit (13lbs), I'd say half fat, half muscle. So I didn't lose any bf while on. I think it's a common misconception that var will make you lose body fat. I've found it's pretty damn hard to gain muscle and lose fat at the same time. I'd rather eat above maint. And train like crazy, then cut down after.
Peeling off fat is kinda like unwrapping a present, you might have an idea of what you've got under there, but you can never really be sure.

It's my first time doing liquid. It's tasty lol

The pills I was taking, I dunno man, I think I had a bad powder batch because since I stopped taking those and switched over I feel better

It wasn't fake, I experienced typical AAS sides I usually experience, I just think it may have been a funky powder he used

Day 2 of the liquid var though, I'm happy!
 
If I reduce my dosage to 15 mg/day can I take it all at once in the morning? I have 20 mg pills so cutting them into 7.5 would be difficult.
 
You can always do a half then a fourth, that's what I would do lol but I'm OCD.

Some believe in splitting the doses (I'm one of them) but some don't...I would though. I believe the anavar half life is like 8 hours, keep that in mind.

Yes I love to run, and I found it painful on Var. It clears up after stopping though. I can't speak for the after effects of var for females however I lost strength but got lean. I actually liked what I looked like better 1 month after stopping. Good luck!!

Try this for tightness.
250mg magnesium twice a day
50mg potassium twice a day

Thanks for the tips guys. I've heard that you lean out a lot after var... and I'm wondering if my gains are normal. I weighed myself today and clock in at 156?!?!?!?! I've put on ~11 pounds more or less... in 4 weeks. I'm not sure if this is normal. I'm not eating enough to gain this much.
 
It's common. A lot of women bloat on var, and you've probably gained some muscle. Steroids can be forgiving in a woman not eating necessarily as much as she should, you'll gain on them more than you would without.
 
Okay cool. As long as I'm not experiencing someone unheard of :)







Edit: I ran 3 miles today and it was excruciating. I've always been able to run my 3-mile route very easily but my muscles were incredibly tight today. I'm glad I decreased my dose!

So it's day 33 and my cramping has gone way down since I dropped the dosage from 20 to 15mg/day. My lifts are still up and the only bad sides I've experienced are a little acne and my hair grows really fast (leg hair, eye brows, head hair)... I haven't grown any hair other than where I've always had hair so that's good news to me! I'm really happy with my increase in muscle... I've attached a pic from yesterday to show my quad progress.
 
Hey im not sure how to make a new thread so I hope I can ask for some advice on this one. In a 22 year old female and im 5"5 and 118 lbs by no means do I think I am over weight but I do have problem areas. (Mainly my stomach.) I am very thin but I would love to build just a little bit more muscle (my arms are very tooth pick like) and tone myself. Im hopeing to eventual get a fitness model look. More toned and in shape . What I do not want is to bulk or get ripped. I work out regularly probably on average 4 times a week. (Sometimes more) I eat generally healthy, I eat all whole grains when I eat carbs and try to stay away from them in general. I eat lots pf proteins, fruits and vegetable and I stay away from sugars and all fast food/deep fried food. I used to exercise a lot less and eat very unhealthy and since making a some changes I have seen some slight weight loss, unfortunately it seems as though ive hit a point where im not loosing or toning any more. My boyfriend has used anavar in the past and has suggested I try a cycle. He says this will help me to build some muscle as well as cut my fat but im worried it may work different on me then it did for him since im female.Does anyone on here have any advice or before and after pictures of var? Im a little hesitant because I do not want to bulk and the side effects worry me a tad. Of im taking a vert lpw dosage should i be worried about voice change haor growth or clitoris growth? Ive also did a little bit of searching on clen. Any advice? I only want to run maybe one cycle to slim and tone up?
 
In the future please make a new thread, there's a button at the top of the forum...

It's common for a guy to say 'it did this to me so it'll do it for you.' no. Do not listen. Men and women are extremely different. Women will GAIN on var and yes you'll gain muscle. If you want to tone, that's diet and tweaking your exercise regimen. You do not need male hormones to accomplish this. Yes, steroids = male hormones.
 
Hey! I loved reading your logs! I am doing some research on var, and have been thinking of starting. But I was wondering if you were or are on Birth Control. Or any other females here that have been on var and bc.
Im on the Nuvaring and just trying to see if its a good idea to stay on my bc while on cycle or if I should completely stop my bc! Thanks for any info in advance.
