feds in hushmail....?

X Man

New member
what would be the chances of the fbi cracking into someone's hushmail account, and monitoring the transactions they were making and who they were with.... perhaps in order to get the source? would this be common or at all possible?

I think they would most likely try ot get the sources hushmail.
By getting the source's email wouldnt they get yours as well?

thats my point. If they were going to do the work and get warrents for a email...why would they get a guy that buys cycles when they could get the sources just as easy and get every little guys as well.

with the patriot act it may be possible.

I think alot of people underestimate the FBI's abilities to crack, hack, decrypt, listen, spy... Man, they can look at all this shit... Do you really think they are in their offices scratching their heads going "Damn, they all got hushmail!!! Whatta we do now???"...No, they got this shit on lockdown... Just be glad they don't go after small fries like us...

That Patriot Act makes it possible for them to do all sorts of things without warrants. They use to need a judges permission, but now they can pretty much do whatever they want!

make sure you have a long password with lots of number's and letters

haha. I agree completely. The patriot act deals with terrorism. Do you think that the government will be looking threw email and be like I FOUND A CYCLE OF TEST!!! HOLY FUCK lets go see the judge. Name one case where the government has abused or charged anyone for crimes they found through the patriot act. If your son was killed in a terrorist attack you might think twice to let the government have some lienancy on spying.

If the Feds have time to crack your e-mail to catch a few guys trying to get bigger muscles, I really pity this fucking country. I don't think e-mail surveillance of juice heads is high on the governments priority. If it is, I really hope some terrorist gets a suitcase nuke into DC ASAP.

Your mistake is thinking that the government acts as a whole. There are stupid people working for the government, just like they have assholes working there - just like in any profession. All it takes is one of these pricks to be the guy who gets the job of going through your particular email to get you into trouble.

Just because somebody works for the FBI, DEA or SS, does not mean they are saints. Some ambitious jerk might stash your name in a file and once that file gets big enough, decides his way of getting promoted is to crack down on a few hundred steroid users.

Thats why I dont like the idea of the government reading my email, not because I am against fighting terrrorism.

Xman, you really ask the most obvious questions bro.... Sometimes I think you start threads just to see your name on the board.... Of course they can crack it if they want to, but why would they want to? Are you giving them ENOUGH reason to? If you aren't a major source, I wouldn't worry....

Like Prizz said..... I HIGHLY DOUBT that many people have near big enough file for anyone to worry about. And the government doesnt care enough about steroid abuse. They bring it up in speechs because its politics and they have to.

I dont know if this applies but what the hell I thought I'd share it with you anway.

I remember reading an article where some lady was going thru security at one of the major airports and because she was running late and the TSA was in no big hurry she mumbled something to the effect if she wanted to get a bomb on board the airplane these pee-ons (TSA screeners) couldn't stop her.
Unfortunately one of the screeners heard her pulled her off to the side where she was quickly arrested and detained for 4 hours while they ran a security check on her.
Once she was released she inquired about her luggage, she was informed that because of the threat when her luggage arrived at its destination they feds couldn't take any chances so they submerged her luggage in water and blew it up.
To my understanding the Patriot act gives the Feds more latitude than you can imagine and if they happen to stumble on a source in the name of National Security whose going to question it?

Exactly, just live day by day, don't make stupid decisions, and don't lose any sleep over what MIGHT happen.

Let me say I worked with a VERY VERY smart person on cyber safety for about 3 months for a large fee of course, and he tought me things that will for sure keep me out of harms way, I cant give out his addy but he is on the boards, not sure about EF but that is his job, he stops hackers from hacking banks, DMV's etc etc. The most important thing he said is 1. ALWAYS change your PW every 4 days, and make it like this for example 3rx::4rte as he said NO cracking program from any govt agency can crack a code like this in under 7 days, so 4 is extra safe. And second when setting up a cyber account or hush for example always do it from a comp that has SATELITE connection, not cable, DSL or dial up, as he said satelite computers are almost impossible to track which one is locked on, BUT do it from say kinkos or somewhere that has sat connection, not cable or DSL....Also must haves are firewalls, anti spy, anti virus, personally I have 2 firewalls running and I use Findnot.com to change my IP addy, its cheap as hell, like 7$ per month or less, and you can pick from about 40 different servers to sign onto, and you can actually choose which one you want and from which country, they have russia, amsterdam, germany, Texas, Florida, hungray, poland etc etc,,,,check it out, and it barley slows down your connection at all if you have cable......

If its an accepted fact that the Feds can easily get into any hushmail/secure email account at will then whats the point in using them?

It always seemed like a little "cops and robbers" game that we played on EF.

They could do 100 different things to get access to your e-mail before they waste the time to crack the actual engine - trust me.

What are you guys saying.....should I be worried about the fact that I can't get into my mail account today...you guys really know how to push a blokes panic button.

If they want you they have you.
Most people get caught by chance. They will get tipped off on a distributer. They will then monitor the distributor. They will have all the info from every transaction at that point.
Just assume every phone call and every email you send is being listened to and read.

If the Feds want to get into shit they will. Hell I can crack into peoples accounts from my Labtop, The Fbi has fucking Satelites in Space that can look through your house window at you.If they want to get into our e-mail accounts they will

You people all seem to be severely overestimating the pervasiveness of big brother.

First, email isn't considered within the sphere of privacy if it's gathered from a remote source. They don't need a warrant because it's sent through cyberspace, where anyone with a modicum of skill and intent can listen.

Second, the Pariot Act is not nearly what several of you seem to think it is. Sure, there are a couple of kooky provisionos that have people up in arms, but it's not nearly to the degree most here seem to think it is. They can't do anything they want without a warrant. It doesn't work that way.

Third, frankly, the Feds just don't care. There are much bigger fish to devote their resources to in an effort to fry them. They don't care if you do steroids, and they're not going to sit and listen in on everything and anything that goes through pro-gear message board communities.

Fourth, hushmail is encrypted, and encrypted pretty well. They're not going to devote their resources to decrypting random intercepted emails from hushmail. Trust me, they don't care.

Hope this helps calm you down, and clear up a few pervasive but kinda stupid misconceptions about OMG AMERIKKKA.

Welcome to the life of L.E....................................

You look out for us when you're "on" - we watch you when you're on, OR off.

I am just one of many agents assigned to "monitor" sites like this; I am SURELY not the only one - but only the first to make myself known.

This is a new step in our investigation into the main "engines" that run a drug underworld.

But seriously - anyone wanna welcome me?

Woman's Remarks Prompt Plane Evacuation
Last Updated: 02-17-05 at 2:28PM

A woman was detained in Arizona -- and her suitcase blown up at Lindbergh Field -- after she made a testy comment about a bomb while boarding an American West flight Thursday.

East Coast psychiatrist Esha Khoshnu, 46, apparently became frustrated with security screeners and allegedly said, "If i had a bomb you wouldn't find it," according to a local TV station.

The woman made the remark while waiting to board a San Diego-bound flight in Phoenix, said Mike Aguilar, Federal Security Director at the San Diego airport.

Airport personnel responded by detaining her for questioning, but her suitcase got past security and was loaded onto the jetliner.

The plane made a routine landing at Lindbergh Field shortly after 7 a.m.

The pilot was instructed to taxi to a remote area of the airport, where about 35 passengers were taken off the plane and escorted onto two buses.

Members of the San Diego Fire Department's bomb squad searched the plane but found no explosives, officials said.

They removed the woman's suitcase and inspected it in an open area on the grounds of the airport, finding nothing suspicious.

But taking no chances, they blew up the bag with an explosive charge and then doused it with water
.

After questioning the woman, federal investigators reportedly cleared her to take a later flight to San Diego, where she was due to attend a conference.

It was not immediately clear if Khoshnu would face charges.

Not quite... it is an instrument of incremental control of the population. That piece of shit was sitting around for decades waiting for the right moment to be foisted upon the American people. 9-11 created that opportunity to enact the Patriot('s Rolling in their grave) Act and now we will be stuck with it well beyond the time when terrorist threat is no more. Welcome to the world Orwell spoke about.

Ok i am the newbie and will probably get slammed for this but it seems like all you are doing is bringing attention to yourself. I can't count how many posts i have seen/read about the feds. When the feds come across the board and they see all these posts about people being worried that draws attention. "gee, why are these guys so worried about us being around?" while it is obvious why there is worry, stating your worry will only make them dig deeper into this forum and mail accounts. best not to bring attention to yourself.

No, it's pretty clear you haven't.

Here is the definition of a terrorist: domestic terrorism means activities that (A) involve acts dangerous to human life that are a violation of the criminal laws of the U.S. or of any state, that (B) appear to be intended (i) to intimidate or coerce a civilian population, (ii) to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion, or (iii) to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination, or kidnapping, and (C) occur primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of the U.S.

So pretty much anyone can be considered a terrorist. Selling weed (according to the government) is dangerous to human life... ie, you are a terrorist.

More fun stuff:
* The government would no longer be required to disclose the identity of anyone, even an American citizen, detained in connection with a terror investigation - until criminal charges are filed, no matter how long that takes (sec 201).
* Current court limits on local police spying on religious and political activity would be repealed (sec. 312).
* The government would be allowed to obtain credit records and library records without a warrant (secs. 126, 128, 129).
* Wiretaps without any court order for up to 15 days after terror attack would be permissible. (sec. 103).
* Release of information about health/safety hazards posed by chemical and other plants would be restricted (sec. 202).
* The reach of an already overbroad definition of terrorism would be expanded - individuals engaged in civil disobedience could risk losing their citizenship (sec. 501); their organization could be subject to wiretapping (secs. 120, 121) and asset seizure (secs. 428, 428).
* Americans could be extradited, searched and wiretapped at the behest of foreign nations, whether or not treaties allow it (sec. 321, 322).
* Lawful immigrants would be stripped of the right to a fair deportation hearing and federal courts would not be allowed to review immigration rulings (secs. 503, 504).

if you wanna get down to it, taxes are an instrument of control. And we've been stuck with that shit since the country was founded. If someone goes down by the Patriot Act, then yu fucked up big time.

I agree... taxes were instated more to catch those circumventing the system, than a means to fund the government. A government sales tax would make more sense... because everyone, even criminals, have to buy goods and services.

The governments already made the asinine connection between drugs and terrorism. Next time you attempt to purchase your cycle... you are funding terrorism in the eyes of the government. We have no need for the Patriot Act. We have enough intruments to keep us safe. No need to relinquish all our freedoms.

so very very true, perhaps most have forgoten about the rights robbing conspiracy laws and how they were inacted but il refresh your memeories. The laws were started for a good purpose, to bust leaders of orgainzed crime, aka the mob, as these guys were smart and never got their hands dirty. fine, it worked, but then it sits on the books waiting for some overzealous prosecutor to enact them. now every drug case in america tried by the federal govnt is tried under the conspiracy laws which makes so easy they could send a lamp post to prison if they wanted to. yes they worked very well on the leaders of organized crime but are they really needed to bust street level crack dealers? of course not but once you open pandoras box it cant be closed. once the threat of terrorism is gone future generations will have to worry big time about how those laws will be applied to them.
