Fat% & Waist Line? Whats Yours?

Spatts - .....8% Hydro is typically around 5-6% on a skinfold.....so for a three site pinch of triceps, thigh and supraillium that is a TOTAL of 12-14 mm..that is extremely low for a woman...now 8% on a skin pinch is a different story

Regional NPCers ARE national level compet and I mentioned that caveat previously.

How often do you get your bodyfat measured by hydro and did you get the whole "breathing your air completely out and holding it" thing down right away -- or did it take some time to get used to it? I found it a little frustrating not to mention was dizzy as all hell when I was done. And the tech was absolutely certain I did not push all the air out of my lungs in any of the dunks we did.

I got it done this summer at the university's sports medicine clinic. Cost me $100, including a caliper test. Well worth it! The clinician had me practice blowing out all my air a few times he did the measurement. Also, there was a breathing test afterward (out of the water) to measure against - I don't know, I think it measured how much air I could take in/push out of my lungs.

He told me that since my caliper was within the margin of error for my hydro that I could just keep coming to him for the caliper test instead of doing hydro over and over again.

makedah -- yeah they had me practice the breathing too before hand and measured my breathing prior. I guess it is different having to take in all your air, submerge under water ...then slowly blow it out not moving the seat you are suspended on -- keeping very still....then breath it all out and hold and sit there -

For a klutz like me -- too many variables and too many things to worry about I suppose.....again...I am a klutz and actually think I was alittle nervous.
