Experience with Accutane?

I am considering trying a run with accutane since summer is on the way and I am breaking out pretty bad, which I have never had happen. I have never had an issue with acne in the 8 years of being in the game, but all of sudden it is getting bad. I want to give accutane a try but have heard horror stories of the horrible side affects and bad depression. Are these horror stories true with every case or are they over-exagerated? Anyone have good results with using it and minimal sides? Let me know your experiences please. Thanks.

bro...i never had acne in my life untill my last 2 dbol/test cycles last year. then all of a sudden...all over my showlders and lower back.

my current cycle...dbol/tren/test...i started taking 20mg/day. it got rid of almost all of my existing acne and haven't gotten anything new either.

the onll sides were the really chapped/dry lips. it actually got outta hand so i stopped it for a wee and then started it back up 20mgEOD. i still have gotten no acne.

the one thing i recommend is taking it at night after dnner. for some reason it was giving me nausia taking it after breakfast in the morning.

basically...start at low doses.

good luck bro!

If you've never used it then you should be ok to run a course. I don't recommend it at all, but I will try and support those who use it for the first time. In my opinion, there are safer, natural alternatives. These natural cures are internal cleanses, and I recommend doing them while on the accutane so you can avoid having to run a second course.

[Dude-definately not worth it! I tried it a few years back, and my face was literally peeling off!

I have since used Pro Active, and have to say it is well worth the money with NO side effects! It takes a month or two to notice results, but you will be happy.

Good Luck-

I took accutane as a teenager and it worked, it completely got rid of my teenage acne. A downside is permanent dry skin and chapped lips. 20 years later I still have dry skin nad lips, so it seems to permanently change the way your skin produces oil. In addition, it is pretty liver toxic so you might want to get your liver values checked regularly while on it. In short, it works but it is not without side effects.

thanks for the replies, bump back up for some more. Since my acne isnt horrible, can I run it at a light dose to see if I get any results out of it?

i also took it as a teenager, at 40mg a day. the only side effects i got was chapped lips, and my face was always red and my skin was sensitive to the sun. i have never had a problem with acne since i went off and my face went back to normal color, and my lips are now normal.

BTW-when i say my lips were chapped, its an understatement. if i didint have chapstick with me at all times i seriouslly couldnt handle it. make sure to wear sunscreen when you are gonna be in the sun.

I played football in college, and around that time I started breaking out really bad.

My roomate was on accutane and he said I could use his if I wanted to try it. I got on it and it killed my acne. It really dried me out. Like the rest of the guys here, I got mega chapped lips. I had to use chapstick on a regular, REGULAR basis.

I didnt have any mood swings or anything as a result of it. Just clear, super dry skin.

I went to the dermatologist last month and he suggested it for the acne on my shoulders and back. I'm going to give it a shot, but I'm worried about the effects of being in the sun since I live in So Cal and summer is coming up. Anyone know how the sun will affect your skin on accutane? I know they say to stay out of it, but fuck I live in one of the sunniest placest on earth.

Never had any problems with it, except dry skin/lips/eyes, but all those are no problem with cream, eye drops, etc.

Sun wasn't a problem either.

Cool. Thanks bro. I'll probably start it when I get back from Miami in May. I don't want to be on accutane then since I'll be doing just little bit of partying...well ok I'll be fucked up the whole time... ;)

good idea...when i started the accutane cycle it got worse before it got better...BIG puss pimples only a few but VERY noticable...

I would stay away from it..... Maybe it's your brand of gear?

My ex-girlfriend was diagnosed with clinical depression and she never had issues before Accutane. It completely changed her.

Did accutane a year and half ago. Crappy sides like dry skin, nose bleeds every other day and really made me sensitive to bright light but it cleared up 15 years of acne so I would go on it again in a heart beat. Totally changed my life and my confidence.

yea i used it when i was around 14/15. I had really bad acne, cleared it up in one summer. Im not positive but i think it eliminates 80-95% of oil in your body. Id wake up with nose bleeds all the time. My face/lips were dry as f***. Would i do it over again hell yea. but it will get worse b4 it gets better.

Im on day 12 of 30 mg/day, so far all i have noticed is slightly dry lips, eyes, and hands. Im going to bump the dose up to 40mg for a couple of weeks then try to bring it down to 20mg a day for the duration. Ill keep everyone posted on the results. My back and shoulders were fucked from my last Test/EQ run, but it is already improving by the day. I didnt think it would take effect this fast, I am very pleased so far. TurboGreek thanks again for your help!

It was the best thing I ever did... My skin has always been overly oily and very hydrated, so practically everything bothered my skin. The more cycles I did the worse it became. I believe your pores become larger with exposure to higher testosterone levels. I did a 6 month course of accutane and yes it did make me a bit depressed and it did dry the fuck out of my skin, but it was well worth it. Now I can do a cycle and not worry. My skin has returned to normal, minus the zits.

PS. I also did a cycle during accutane. I did not use any orals though, as not to aggravate liver enzymes. This definitely helped in the depression area.
