The new ones get VERY loud, but they come with a limiter enabled by default that's around 65% max volume. It's easily adjusted, but actual in-ear buds make the volume even louder.

hmm... how do you disable this??

I just got a cute little pink on that is a mp3/mp4 player....gonna take me some time to figure out!! Lots of crap to access and only a few buttons to use :worried:

Does that stuff play any mp3 or does it play some proprietary crap?

I will never support a proprietary format player of any kind unless it is a last resort.

I am sure I'll catch on sooner or later but I went to play with it and got so flustered that I turned it off and hadn't picked it back up! Once I get my home computer back up and running I will then have to figure it out so I can download some tunes. My son just laughs at me....maybe I just get him to do it for me! lol

Dont get one they're over hyped pieces of crap and the itunes suckware they force you to use blows.

I think you can only use their format, which means you have to run it through their software 1st and let convert it.

plus and maybe it was just some setting I kept missing but if I had music on my computer, transfered it to my ipod, then deleted it off my computer...the next time I plugged in my ipod the music would automatically delete off of it.

I ended up getting mad at mine and snapping it n half(I had the shuffle)

Ok I thought it was something like that.

Sadly it will never change. As long as people jump on the bandwagons companies will continue to screw us over.

It's the same as some video game developers using "downloadable content" and "consumeables" in games now where you have to purchase extra content and purchase nice weapons , cars, etc.

They are even getting so bad that you can buy some big weapons which run out of ammo and must be reloaded by purchasing more ammo.

For all the reasonable people out there refusing to buy it, there is always spoiled kids asking mommy and daddy to buy it, therefore keeping developers going this route, thus ruining games for the rest of us.

The iPod will play .wav, .mp3, .mp4 and .aac. It won't play .wma nor .wmv which are each MSoft proprietary formats and restricted by Microsoft.

TC2, there's an option to keep your Library and iPod in sync. You had it enabled. If you disable the option then that won't happen.

I gave a few mp3s to my GF and she said they played fine for a while, then quit playing one day. She has an ipod.

Also, I tried getting a song from her, but it was a mpu or some weird (ipod I assume) format and wouldn't play in my mp3 player.

It's crap like that which doesn't make me feel bad one bit for getting music for free

.mpu is a playlist file, a long-standing standard across many software audio players. .mpu files don't hold any audio data: it's basically a text file with a list of filenames for the songs in the list.

If the mp3s you gave her stopped playing then the most likely explanation is that she deleted them. Maybe unintentionally, as with TC2, by having iTunes set to keep the iPod matched with the Library.

Regarding your earlier comments on games developers. They resent it almost as much as the paying user. The push comes from publishers and often the developer has no choice but to disable features, such as auto-reload, and replace them with purchasable content.

When I said mpu format I was just guessing. I don't remember the exact extension. I suppose mpu was just in my head because I've seen it recently.

Whatever extension it was, it wouldn't play in my mp3 player. The way I look at it is if I paid for the song, I should be able to play it in any player and for as long as I want.

With the increase of broadband in homes, the audio and video industry is leaning toward downloads instead of physical media. That isn't neccessarily bad, however they seem to want the downloads to expire and/or only play on select devices. That is crap IMO.

I went to go look at these condos over the weekend going up across the street me. A standard feature is that the entire house is set up for surrond sound including an IPOD docking station in the wall.

The problems come from proprietary formats. Apple owns aac and MSoft owns wma and wmv. They each demand a licence fee to incorporate playability on a device and the end result is a divide. I've yet to see a player that doesn't handle .mp3 since it's an open standard.

I use mplayer to convert between formats, if I can be bothered. Mostly I just ignore any audio file not in mp3 format.

In the States I think you have the right to convert your audio between formats. Over here, in the UK, it's still illegal for us even to rip a CD to mp3 or to copy a CD onto cassette.

Are you kidding me?
That's ridiculous.

I am select about how I set my surround sound up and where the components are. Plus fuck the Ipod. I can use my own setup to play songs at home.

I bet they jack the price up a few grand for the added features you listed.
