Ever notice that powerlifters have the shortest names?

Has anyone noticed or even care that powerlifters always go by the shortest variation of their name or a derivative of tha name. Check out some common names:

Full name followed by Powerlifting name

James
Jim, Jimmy

Louis
Lou, Louie

Edward
Ed, Eddie

Douglas
Doug, Dougie


Jason
Jay

Michael
Mike

Robert
Rob, Bob

Dave

Kenneth
Ken, Kenny

Actually every powerlifter that know goes by the powerliter version of his name, why?? Except for Anthony Clark.

they all probably get called that cause of nicknames... how many williams do you see everyday as opposed to how many people you call Bill? its just easier if your nameis shorter...

the shorter the name, the less energy expelled while saying the name, which means more energy for lifting.

And besides, just think how it would feel to be referred to as Kaz. He is not only incredibly stong, but one of the coolest guys you will ever meet. He can call himself whatever he wants, and not just because he is a lot bigger than I am.
