Hi,
I have some probem with menstruation...I lost it...now is it almost over 1 year I missing it..I was at doctor..at from blood test I have a lot of estrogen and littel progesterone{so my problem is hormonal imbalanc}...everythng because of I dieting long time, I lost weight, my body starved...so my question is which role play estrogen by fat loss and build muscle..I'm not sure if high estroen level cause problem with fat loss. I'm 5'6" now between 115-117lb but my problem is fat in lower abs...what do I have to do with this? Is something what help me decrease estrogen level except hormonal medicament?
thanks

My first question is has the doc done anything to help you balance out your hormones first? Estrogen is a driver for depositing fat on those "female fat areas" -- hips, stomach, thighs. Testosterone is actually more related to building muscle. I would refer to your doctor for any medication or dose adjustments he/she recommends to address your hormone imbalance.

As far as losing the bodyfat in your lower stomach - this is common problem for most women. Those hard-to-lose areas are the result of a higher concentration of fat cells there. Say if you lost 5% bodyfat by diet & training, you would see the difference much more in your leaner areas like your upper body - 5% bodyfat lost off an area with concentration of bodyfat will show more. You might not see much change in the areas like your lower stomach, hips, thighs, because there 5% of more fat will look like less lost. You can't really force spot-loss in those areas, so instead you need to continue the diet & training so you can make a greater fat loss occur in those areas.

If you've already caused a negative change from dieting, have you made sure that your current diet / eating habits don't continue to hurt your body? Have you worked with a nutritionist or dietician since then?

Can you post up what you are eating now, exactly what, how much, and when during the day? And also your training schedule. We can do some things that will help optimize your diet for a balanced meal plan that will help you along the way w/ bodyfat loss.

Sorry I can't get to this at work right now. THat lower stomach bodyfat is hard to get rid of and sometimes is just how you are built. Ab work is going have minimal impact, but the continued optimizing of the diet & training is good.

In your case you are already very low weight - do you know what your bodyfat is? If your diet is not balanced you may have a low weight but not necessarily an optimal muscle to fat ratio.

I feel for you and your hormonal issues! I have the same problem. I wish someone would just take my ovaries sometimes. To be estrogen dominant is difficult, but I don't know if you have it too bad. I am 5 feet and 5.5 inches, the .5 inches is very important to my ego, and I weigh 160. Now I admit, because I recently got a cast off, that I have not been trying at all to loose weight. But neither do I eat unhealthily in any way. I have PCOS and so my hormones are raging.

If you are able to maintain that weight at your height I wouldn't think that your estrogen levels are too much for you. Some of us can handle more hormones than others. It may just be that you have that wee belly Madonna used to have, like 20 years ago..........I'm old and fat. I'm going to sit on the couch. Adios.....Ang

Hi,

The problem isn't too much estrogen, it is little or no progesterone. The following are symptoms of Estrogen dominance and Progesterone deficiency:

Signs Of Low Progesterone And Estrogen Excess Progesterone Deficiency Estrogen (Estradiol) Excess

Swollen breasts
Fibrocystic breasts
Loss of libido
Obesity
Depression
Low thyroid
Facial hair
Hot flashes
Night sweats
Vaginal dryness
Foggy thinking
Memory lapses
Incontinence
Tearful
Depressed
Sleep disturbances
Heart palpitations
Bone loss
Water retention
Craving for sweets
Mood swings (PMS)
Depression
Tender breasts
Water retention, edema (swelling, bloating)
Fatigue, no energy
Nervous
Irritable
Anxious
Fibrocystic breasts, Breast swelling
Uterine fibroids
Weight gain in hips and thighs
Bleeding changes
Heavy or irregular menses
Headaches
Loss of sex drive (libido)
low thyroid - cold hands and feet

As you can see it can bring on a whole mess of symptoms. I was experiencing this and purchased a progesterone cream called Progesta-eze, and my symptoms have decreased. Your doctor should prescribe oral Progesterone if you are barely producing any. The trick is to get Bio Identical hormones, not the man made ones. Bio identical hormones are the exact molecular structure as the ones you body makes. The man made ones can cause all kinds of trouble. I recommend going to the Hotze Wellness Center website at www.hotzehwc.com for lots of information on this.
Hope this helps.

As Sassy previously asked, what is your doctor doing about the imbalance?

Is s/he giving any advice or meds for it? What do they recommend?

Have you gone to an endroconolgist?

I have the same problem... over 2 years with no period :(
my GYN recommended the othro evra birth control patch since I have a low estrogen level. so I tried the patch and that got me so sick!!! mood swings, binging, bloatings, gained weight, nauseated, etc.... I tried it for the 3 weeks and it helped to get my period.. but Im not going to use this crap ever again!!!!

I went to see an endroconoligist and she suggested to wait for at least 8 weeks till I get some blood work done (she wants all the medication to get out of my system)

I recommend to see an endroconlogist :)
