I posted this in the wrong area (anabolic) 1st - sorry :-(

BAN EPHEDRINE

These bastards won't stop until everything is outlawed

I think this is Ralph Nader's group doing this.

Consumer group: FDA must ban ephedra

http://www.usatoday.com/news/healthscience/health/2001-09-06-ephedra-usat.htm

The Public Citizen Health Research Group, representing 135,000 members, petitions the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to ban the production and sale of dietary supplements containing ephedrine alkaloids*.

yeah my dad just came up to me today asking you now using that ehped stuff are you. Yeah I am

he was so worried abotu how dangerous it is, I was like uh huh eggs are going to kill us, mercury from tuna is going to kill me.

Trying to explain media hype he ketp saying its not the media, telling me a guy called into a radio talk show saying how bad the stuff was and that it almost killed him and 3 doctors told him it was the ephedra that did it.

Of course had to explain some people can't eat peanut shoudl we all stop? I heard you can be lactose intolerant I better not drink any milk, had to explain just because a few people has bad experiences doesn't mean its bad. Then there alchohol how many people does that kill is it bad no some people just can't control them selves alcohol can be healthy in moderation so can ephedra. had to explain how it not always bad (aspirin in small doses can also be healthy)

He said he wouldn;'t stop me and that he also knew he couldn't but he was worried, of course I still tried to prove my point just to put his mind at ease and the fact that it pisses me off when they have no idea what they are talking about. Hes like I'm going to ask you mother (shes a nurse) like she would know anything about it, I'm a techie but yet I don't the exact architech of the p4 and I don't know how its perfornce is going to very exactly from system to sytem app to app, or for what applications it will crash. You arn't going to know unless you specifically read up on the stuff and from alot of different sources, I wouldn't go to intels pages to see how the chips are performing.

Ahh well DAMN MEDIA

Over at drumlib's site --> www.drumlib.com

He details the medical weight loss studies and shows where continued use actually lowers blood pressure.

Depending on how much you want to show your dad wrong, you can find the ammo there

My mom took pheylpropanolamaine(PPA) for years, recreationally, just for the littest sicknesses, the type that she experiences on a weekly basis. Even after the FDA warning and media frenzy proclaiming PPA (mis)usage is linked to strokes, I saw my mom still downing those lougeners, each one had around 15mg-25mg of PPA, she use to take quite a few on a daily basis periodically. The thing is my mom would never take the same substance in a pill form via a diet supplement because of the stigma. I have told her that she has used it for years with no problem, then she says yea and says she agrees, but for some reason she still believes the media...I guess because their word is heard by many so it must be accurate, absolutely undeceiving, and for the care of the public.

So many people have taken PPA for years with no problems, then all of sudden with its brought to their attention, they start to look for problems, and blame everyone on the supplement. I'm sure the number of PPA users has gone down since the warning, but I wouldn't doubt if the statictics or people claiming they have had side effect has gone up,at least percent wise, since everyone is trying to find a problem with it. Everyone time I tune into to local channels I see some attorney commercial listed a guzillion possible side effects, and if you have experienced anyone of them and taken PPA, to call him and get what you disserve. Well it went something like that.

She is an avid fox news channel watcher and the guy always says something along the lines of "the kids put all this stuff in their body , creatine ,etc." then 2 seconds later talks about steriods. Like they are comparable. I'm being fair, he really did talk about it like creatine is comparable to AS. I think the show is called the o reily factor. So I told her , Isn't this a testiment this news fraudalent, and she says well the creatine stuff is safe, but the other stuff is not, but she still believes everything else, she even believes PPA is very dangerous, and says she cannot take stuff like PPA because her body can't handle, and I keep telling her that she took it for years, but I guess if its in the form of a supplement then its bad. Hmm.

man....I think those fuckers are gonna ruin it for everybody...it's pretty damn simple.....if you have a heart condition or you are of old age....DON'T TAKE THE SHIT.

Personally, I think it is a way to cover up the deaths to these teams training in the severe heat where heat strokes may be susceptibly high. Obviously you don't want to take these drugs if you have pre-existing heart problems, but who knows if these athletes were responsible to have check-ups. Also, since ephedrine raises your body temp. one has to take this into account before going out in heat over 100 degrees. Teams have always practiced/conditioned in this weather as a way to "toughen-up" their athletes, so this is nothing new. Since ephedrine is probably considerably more widely used as it were before, then there will be more athletes suffering from its heat producing effects in the already hot environment they are in. Is it the drugs fault? No, be responsible with this stuff and learn how it works before taking it.

One more thing I would like to point out is that who knows what else these athletes were taking along with their ephedrine. As we know, recreational drugs (Coke/crank/etc) are not uncommon in sports these days.
