Energy from food

How long does it take food to start giving us energy? How much time to I need to wait after eating before I start training? Thanks all!

It takes roughly 8 hours for your body to fully digest a meal. It depends on the size of the meal, fibre content, fat content etc. but that's a good ball park number.

I recommend finishing eating your pre-workout meal about 90 minutes before your workout. That way the food will have finished passing through your stomach and will be in your intestines.

Our science guy @muskate got it on point - roughly 8-10 hours for the food to get completely digested, but you can start getting the energy earlier, because on the early stages of digestion your body is already absorbing the nutrients.
